Id be very careful with Welly. I bought their Evoque and its basically an expensive whack job. The wheels are so big they turn like 5 degrees only. Very cheap feeling too.

On a diorama what is the best source for a road? I used really soft black sandpaper but it didn't stay flat... Do you guys have any recommendations?

I used a textured spray paint, then covered over that with flat black spray paint. It gives the look of freshly laid asphalt, I've done it a few times and am quite happy with the result. You can check out my Dio builds to see it. Good Luck! :)

    64m tall, 15000 tons, 15000 hp.

This thing would be good at crushing your 1:87 (or 1:43 or 1:18) collection beneath its weight ;)

It is absolutely a shame about Designs in Motion. We're losing a great store, but more importantly, I am going to miss dealing with Greg White, the owner, who is an absolute asset to the hobby. I hope he enjoys retirement. Unfortunately, I think this closing is a sign of the times.

Got my CMC W25 and 300 SLR - hell's bells and bees knees CMC makes some amazing models! Count me as a recent convert to the CMC side (their subject matter always put me off, and now I wish even more that they'd expand to grand prix racers from 1965 to 1975, my favorite era, and also the 1983 BT52)

Haha I know, I got a Nissan R89 and Sauber C9, both are incredible but as Craig had told me, the CMC 300 SLR has better engine detail. I do know that the Exoto Tipo 156 and especially the Jaguar D-Type XS models are the ultimate 1:18 models, but I refuse to pay 1000 USD for a single model ;)
