My latest 'Grail arrived today... :yahoo: ...and I gleefully opened the box ....to find....

Attached File  JOTA03e.jpg   368.85K   2 downloads

Wingless!! :gaah:

Well not quite, the wing IS there, but has become detached.... I think it was probably caused by pressure from the seller closing the clamshell, that was still sellotaped on one side as you can see here....
Attached File  JOTA07e.jpg   241.89K   4 downloads
I checked the wing, only to find that one of the wing supports is completely missing!!! :omg:
Attached File  JOTA06e.jpg   109.32K   3 downloads

So i carefully removed the model to check if it had fallen under the model, but despite removing even the foam wheel cushions....
Attached File  JOTA05e.jpg   529.72K   3 downloads

NOWT!! :bawling:

Well, I've contacted the seller to see if it's fallen out during the packing process.... :hope: ..... but I've only just mailed him so he's not replied yet, but if he can't find it I really don't know what to do.... :dunno:

I certainly don't want to return the whole model, but would really like to get the wing support part....I KNOW the real ORIGINAL Jota probably DIDN'T have a wing, but I'd rather have it as it emphasises the distinction between it the wacky sportster and my 'regular' Miura SV.....

Any ideas guys?? :hope:

What a bummer... When I bought my Jota from Jon, he put the antenna into the trunk. When I opened the trunk, there was no antenna anywhere. I checked the box like 5 times, and then when I picked the model up, I heard something rattling inside. Turns out it went into an opening on the right side of the trunk and trapped itself INSIDE the wheel arch. So I had to take the rear clam shell apart to take it out. Lift it up and shake it about, maybe you'll hear something rattling too.

Fingers crossed Eddy that you find a resolution. it's a magnificent model nonetheless. Not sure what Kyosho's policy is, but do they sell spare parts?

Last time i checked no they dont offer or sell spare parts for their diecast products officially. The only kind of spare parts they offer is for their RC range.

Very sorry to see that happens Eddy that seriously sucks. Hope you find resolution soon. Was the antenna properly attached to the Jota in seller's pictures? At least that might helps to narrow down the time and place when the spoiler was crushed and the wing support fell off. The support looks pretty delicate and probably hard to replicate so hopefully you will be able to find the broken one or at least a full replacement spoiler.

That is shame :(
This will be hard to repair without missing parts.. Maybe shake model harder. This part might stuck somewhere inside.
A few months ago I bought Lancer Evo VI WRC 1:18 Autoart with missing mirror.. I was looking for the mirror on the web, I put the model apart and do a huge clean inside ( A lot of dust )..
After a few weeks I shook the model again a little bit harder and third time something moved inside the car.. It was the mirror :D

Good luck with that Ed,it hurts to see a model you just got like that. You may have to send it back cos you won't be happy knowing it's like that,it sticks in your head.

I was thinking the same as Igor ... maybe the part is wedged in the car somewhere :dunno: .  Either way, sorry to hear about this on your awesome Birthday model but hopefully you get it sorted one way or the other.

Eddy maybe contact Lars if no luck on the replacement support and see if he could cast a resin piece for you? Either way that really sucks to hear that the mount broke off and I hope it gets sorted out soon.

Eddy, this is maddening.....sorry to see this happen when you were looking so forward to this model.

I just spend some time writing a post on audirs' post but didn't go ahead with it for fear of my opinion I have with eBay starting a firestorm with others........I will say this that the types of humans buying and selling on eBay now makes me second guess ever doing anything on it again.

Hopefully, this will be resolved and you can move on to get the complete model in great condition at an even better price!  Lol.

One more suggestion if I may Eddy? ...

I had a mirror missing one time, looked everywhere inside the box, model, all opening areas and it was not there.....it actually had lodged in the suspension parts of the rear wheel of the model.  Looked to be a glued in piece of the actual model it was wedged so tightly.  Now if I have a tiny bit missing I get the flashlight out and go over every place possible and use an opening tool to poke around in the areas.....maybe?  I sure hope it is stuck somewhere in the model.  Good luck.

If all else fails you might want to try to have it 3D printed ... might be the only solution in this case to get the model back to pristine shape.

Did the wing scratch the paint anywhere along the way?

WOW Guys, just got in from work and I'm overwhelmed with all the advice... :occasion14:

Heard back from the seller who've said:  ' Our boss is returning tomorrow and he will reply to you.Thank you.' :gaah:

Fair play though, at least they responded, so I'm gonna have meself a bite to eat, then - like so many of you suggested ( :occasion14:) - give the car a real in-depth going over to see if the part has got jammed in any of the infrastructure..... :hope:

Eddy.....I'd really like to be saying congrats on the new addition to the collection but with the missing wing strut/support I know it's gotta be bitter sweet. After waiting to get any model, especially a holy grail car and then to have it show up broken....... :gaah:

I hope your able to find the missing piece or resolve the issue with the seller. Best of luck!

This is so nerveracking, I feel your pain Eddy! I hope the seller will show a helping hand, maybe replace the model? Or like suggested above I think Lars could do something about it, if you send him the spoiler I'm sure he can reproduce the missing part without a flaw, he's good at what he does. All the best

Well, I was just about to put the Jota to bed, after taking a few shots of it with my other 'wingless' Jota...albeit a smaller version....here's an example of the shoot...
Attached File  WINGLESSJOTAe.jpg   269.77K   7 downloads

and I'd just put the box back in order, with the supports and the foam inserts in place so that I could put the model to rest securely....here's a pic....

Do you see what I see?? :nice:
