Received this model earlier this week.
My first impressions of the new AUTOart Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 composite model.
The model is made with a diecast metal chassis and an ABS plastic body.
The body is cast plastic so the plastic molded body is in the final colour so this reduces the risk of paint blemishes or scratches.
both doors open to reveal a well detailed interior, remember this is a race car so the interior is pretty sparse.
Panel gaps between the doors and body work are very close. The engine cover/bonnet and boot/trunk are sealed.
The wheel and brake detail are as good as any other AUTOart model. All four wheels roll freely and the front wheels steer.
Oddly the model feels very light but this may just be a perception as I know the model is made of ABS plastic.
The model weighs 632 grams. My Aston Martin DB9R (sealed version from AUTOart) weighs 584 grams and my Alfa Romeo Montreal (also made by AUTOart) weighs 600 grams.
The Aston Martin feels warm to touch unlike a diecast model that feels metallic and cool to touch.
Keeping the car clean I believe will present a problem as the ABS attracts dust, I guess due to static electricity. Unlike a diecast metal model the dust can easily be wiped off I found dust particles tend to cling to the ABS plastic..
On the plus side the Aston Martin cost US$122.90 from AUTOart's Hong Kong store. This is a significant price drop for an AUTOart model.

Thanks for the review!

I'm glad the shutlines have been improved, but a model that attracts dust is quite annoying to say the least...even worse when it's black as it is more noticeable.
I also have the DBR9 and that is one of the lighest models I've ever seen, glad that this one weighs a bit more, but the overall feeling is quite important.

Do you have any more pics?

I've heard a lot about those new "models" from AutoArt... They seem pretty good, and if this is related to price drop too, it is a good thing!

About the model itself it is beautiful ( like other AUTOart models), good choice!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on AUTOart's new composite material. With the 4C and P1 coming in this material, I'm really interested in seeing how they come out.

How is your paint on your model?

My green Vantage has some really weird paint issues... and I've heard quite a few others have had the same problem.

It doesn't have the same gloss seen on diecast models and there are a lot of leveling issues... a lot of orange peel feel too.

Maybe the black hides it better or they've upgraded the paint since...

Still a very good model for the price!
