I'm almost ashamed to post this because I should have caught this myself but I'm not the most attentive guy at time... I bought a Saleen Mustang off of eBay for $53 including shipping. Description said nothing more than "Nice car, good condition". The car looked a little odd to me, nothing obviously wrong with it but something was off and I didn't pay it any more attention.

Came in the mail today, he did a great job of packing (no sarcasm there) but I find major, very deep scuffs in several areas, found a fully intact spider web in the engine bay, found that the passenger door panel was loose and as a result the mirror fell out.

Not a big deal though, I'm not a super picky guy and I got it for a good price. I went about cleaning it up and then saw two strange round holes beside the seats... then it hit me why it looked odd to me, there is supposed to be a roll bar on this car and it's missing!

I've sent the seller a message and asked if he has the part maybe laying around somewhere so that I can at least repair it... I imagine the answer will be "no" though. Considering filing for a return even though I hate to do that to somebody, especially since I got what I think was a good deal on the car (of course that is assuming that it is complete!). I don't think his intentions were bad, I just think he overlooked quite a bit. This isn't a dealer, it's just a guy selling some of his stuff.

What do you think, am I being unreasonable?

To be honest, to him it probably is in 'good condition' Whenever I see an ad with little info I always ask them if it has an broken or missing parts or scratches etc (especially if they've taken the photo with the metaphorical potato)

As bad as it'll sound, you may just have to swallow this one if he won't let you return it. :twocents:

:agreed:

I suspect our definition of 'good condition' as collectors is very different to that held by the regular joe on the street.

Yeah the phrase 'good condition' is very vague indeed, I bought this skyline listed as good condition, it's even worse in person 400956155193

He gave me a half refund this morning, I can live with that. Just have to keep an eye out for another trashed Saleen to buy for parts, wonder how long that will take? Lol

Holy cow half off? That's a steal. Looks like he is a nice guy and didn't mean to send something bad.

Wow, I used to have the yellow one, bought it used and it had the same problem, the missing roll bar.  I didn't notice it at first either.  Must be a pretty common problem.

The spider web in the engine bay is something, though

Yes I think it is, I found plenty of other sold listings with the same affliction.

On another note I saw another listing tonight that said "Excellent condition, only missing both mirrors!"

I also got this model second hand, tho locally, and I guess I was in luck to have it MIB. I think it costed me ~60 euros. I feel in love with this Saleen because it was in a 1995 Assassins movie that I watched as a kid
