so, last week i bought two new AUTOart models, and both arrived with some quality issues.

starting with the Corvette C7 Z06, it has a missing drivers side front reflector. i searched the box, but it was nowhere.
the indention is clearly visible where the orange reflector should have been.

then the Jaguar F-Type. the bonnet is difficult to fully close, and if i manage to fully close it, it pops open when i open passenger door.
if i hold the bonnet closed with one hand, and open the passenger door, it is clear to see that the door and bonnet touches each other and flex.
the bonnet also flexes quite a bit if slightly pressured with two fingers, and feels cheap.
but it is not that the bonnet cant be closed at all, it just takes a lot of unnecessary effort to close it.
on last picture, you can see some flash or something, that was not sanded down properly. it isnt that big of a deal, but still.

i am rather disappointed, my first two composite plastic models was the Vanquish red and bronze, which both feels better when opening, but the opening and closing features does actually work much better too.

Considering they both cost near £200, that's a shame :dunno:

Terrible QC. It seems like the problems from 2008-2009 are coming back.

exactly, and not only that, but it is supposed to be 'high quality' and yet there is still issues

i did see some photos around at different dealers, with some that didnt have the bonnet properly closed for some reason. i do think it is not just a single case with mine, so buying this one in person might be the best thing to do to make sure you actually get one without issues.

i looked forward to this one too, especially because the Vanquishes i got in summer was alright. i did see this similarity at ck-models, but i wouldnt have thought i would get one with the same problem. by the way, it was bought from modelcarworld, the Corvette from ck-models.

Wow so that's what nearly £200 gets you these days!? :omg:

Those issues would be irritating on a maisto or welly etc, but considering how much AUTOart overcharge for their models these days it's totally unacceptable!

Such a shame! On my orange Huracan there was a big paint chip on the front lip. Seller gave me a nice discount, I sold it on and actually ended up making a profit. I bought the grey one in its stead and it was fine. I've since bought a few more and haven't found any glaring problems. I think overall AUTOart quality has slipped, even on their 250+ models unfortunately

i contacted the shop about the Corvette, they offered a partial refund of 15€, but i am leaning more towards returning it.

also the detail level of the 'carbon' front splitter and sides is just textured dark grey plastic, like you would find on a budget model

Wow Autoart really cheaped out on this vette didn't they? (besides the elephant in the room that is the engine bay) - too bad, I think way more people would have this one if they had put a bit more effort into it, myself included.

If you like the Vette enough, given the discount which isn't bad, have you thought about contacting Autoart for a replacement reflector? It's been awhile, but I remember Steph being a great contact a long time ago.

i knew the engine wouldnt be much detailed, so i bought it mainly because of its sharp exterior and interior. the color is nice too.

by Steph, do you mean Steffi? she stopped working at AUTOart some time ago, but i havent tried looking for a spare reflector because of reasons..  such as lately, i have used a lot of time to hunt spare parts, and the C7 is relatively new, so i doubt there is any scrap models to take parts from.
but i guess i could do a quick search.

Yea the color does look nice!

Haha, yea, I meant Steffi :duh:  Good luck with hunt for the part if you do decide to go down that route.

Such a shame...and on that price range? :mad2:   A $15 refund on the Vette is just ridiculous. Either a spare part or a new model i'd say.

And that Jag...ugh! Really poor allignment. I'd return that one asap. Did you replaced/returned them?

15 euro is an insult for such a defect. I am surprised they didn't offer to replace it straight away. This is what you should ask for. Return the model and get a new one with shipping paid by CK. They will send you a return label.

it is not really bad alignment, but there is some resistance on the last part on closure, and the magnets are not strong enough to hold it down. it takes maybe 10 tries to make it close properly.
i considered exchanging, but both models are sold out in both shops where i bought them, and i really want a F-Type.

it is sold out, but they offered to take it back too, on the other hand, i am considering keeping it if i can get a spare reflector

Wow sorry to see this unacceptable flaws you got there...those huge gaps and panel alignment on that Jaguar is an eye sore...I would return them and never look back. I am happy that I am not excited with anything came out from AUTOart for the last few months. I rather buy older model like Mur SV.
