Back in November last year I sold one of my 1:43 Make Up Lamborghini's on ebay. The model was brand new, never removed from it's base. The cover was only removed for photos once. Anyway the item was sent (tracked a my expense) and arrived with the new owner 2 days after payment was received on 10th November 2016.

So you can magine my suprise when i receive the below message from the buyer today. How come it's taken 2 months to raise an issue is my initial response. I've checked PayPal's refund policies and apparantly buyers have 160 days to raise a claim after purchase. Of course the buyer is requesting a refund

Any advise guys? I've asked for photos to show the issues

Even if you ask him to do a photo, he may be breaking the model just before doing it, just to get the refund.

Have you done any photo of the model before shipping it?

Yes I have photos of the model complete before posting.

I just know I'm getting scammed due to the rediculous Paypal refund policy for buyers. A time period of 4 months for a seller to raise a claim is totally unfair for non trade/private sellers.

It sounds a bit fishy to me too mate..

Have they given pictures of it ? Was it a numbered item ? Did they open a dispute or just send that message ?

Hi Craig

The buyer contacted me via via 2 emails. The first email had the request i posted above, the second email (arrived 20 minutes later) had a copy of the paypal transaction included with a request for a replacement or refund. So far I've only requested photos ot issue. Any dispute he will have to raise formally though Paypal.

Wow, that's pretty horrible to get hit with out of nowhere. Best of luck with that, I hope he isn't able to pull one over on you.

A tip, you might want to be pro-active and call ebay customer service and talk to a rep about seller protection. Explain the situation and see if they can tell you how they'd respond to this guy opening a claim and complaining so long after. It's possibly worth a shot to find out, hopefully, that you have nothing to worry about should he decide to do that. I'm dealing with something right now where the buyer is trying to extort me, but I spoke w/ebay and they assured me that I have nothing to worry about based on the facts as they exist. Just a thought, as peace of mind is invaluable!

Get those photos m8 - and keep Paypal informed... :twocents:   Do you have a record of the delivery date to evidence vs the date the buyers complaint was posted??

...if that time lapse is significant it could be construed that he damaged the model himself in the interim....

Wow Stu, This guy must be a complete tool to get in touch with you after so long. I bet he's dropped it and is now thinking he can try and scam you.

As others have said, Contact eBay straight away.

Unless it is verboten to do so on this forum, please post the Ebay ID of this buyer so I and others can block him.  I've generally had good luck buying and selling on Ebay, but I have run into a handful of real #$%# that could have caused me a lot of financial pain.  Fortunately there were red flags to alert me from moving forward and taking a bath.  But sometimes you never know, like this character you're dealing with now.

Having spoken to the guy further via email, he's still not gone through Paypal, he has removed the model from its based and now cannot remount it back on the base. Because of this he wants a full refund. What a joker. He even wants me to send him the packaging for him to send the model back in :giggle:

Now I have all the details I'm going to give Paypal a ring and discuss with them

LOL. Perhaps you should just tell him to use super glue to re-attach.

Hope this get sorted out soon. I hate disputes. Too stressful to handle.

Wow!! Just wow!!

I had a dude in Australia who bought a brand new 1/43 Minichamps Focus RS off of me. He wrote saying it was scratched & could he get a refund. I told him that it was a new model that I'd checked & it was not scratched.. He replied "it's scratched on the underside when I unscrewed it" I never heard back from him once I pointed out that it was fault.

Some people really are the dregs of the hobby!

Wow, the nerve. I would stop replying at this point. I'm not sure if there's a self-service option, but you can call ebay and have them block this clown from even contacting you anymore. You can report his as harassing you as well, though I'm not sure if that really does anything helpful for you. I'd try to have him blocked from bothering me at all and forget about it all together. What a goof.

Very sorry to hear that Stu. The guy sounds like a complete tool that has no business in this hobby - AT ALL. Hopefully NO money will be exchanged and he can go jump off a cliff and disappear forever.
