THE FERRARI 812 SUPERFAST
THE NEW, EXTREME PERFORMANCE V12 BERLINETTA.

http://auto.ferrari....e/812superfast/

Maranello, 16 February 2017 – Ferrari has selected the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show for the world premiere of the new 12-cylinder berlinetta, the 812 Superfast, the most powerful and fastest Ferrari in the marque’s history. This new car not only introduces a plethora of innovative features but is also particularly significant as the V12 series marked the official start of the glorious Prancing Horse story in 1947, 70 years ago this year.

This new car not only introduces a plethora of innovative features but is also particularly significant as the V12 series marked the official start of the glorious Prancing Horse story in 1947, 70 years ago this year. The 812 Superfast thus ushers in a new era in Ferrari 12-cylinder history, in doing so building on the invaluable legacies of the F12berlinetta and F12tdf. It is aimed at clients demanding the most powerful and exclusive Ferrari in the range: an uncompromising sports car that will deliver exhilarating driving both on road and track yet also be comfortable enough to allow its owners enjoy it as an all-round experience.

Powered by a new 6.5-litre V12 engine that unleashes 800 cv, the 812 Superfast is the new benchmark in the mid-front-engined sports car segment, achieving maximum power output at 8,500 rpm, which translates to a specific power output of 123 cv/l. Figures that no other front-engined production car has ever even come near to delivering and which ensure the kind of thrilling top-end performance that is the exclusive characteristic of Ferrari’s noble V12 heritage. The engine’s power is underscored by a full, rich exhaust sound that exploits the acoustic clout delivered by its increased displacement. Maximum torque is 718 Nm @ 7,000 rpm, a significant 80% of which is already available at 3,500 rpm, improving both driveability and pick-up even at low revs.

These performance levels were achieved in part by adopting a 350 bar direct injection system for the very first time on a high-performance engine and pairing it with variable geometry intake tracts conceptually derived from those of naturally-aspirated F1 engines. The 812 Superfast’s dual-clutch transmission has specific gear ratios which, combined with shorter up and down-shifting times between gears, sharpen throttle response still further.

I was expecting a lot for this car as I really like the F12's design, but nah, this 812 has too many folds, edges, holes... not as clean as the F12. Also the waist line raises too rapidly in my opinion.
For me the 550/575 and the F12 have the most timeless design's.

I think it is a bit ugly to be honest, like ferrariforever, I prefer it's predecessors. There's just too much going on, lines here, lines there and more creases than an un-ironed shirt. I predict it will age horribly. :twocents:

Heritage. Not the first Ferrari to hold the Superfast name.

Plus its like an equivalent of SuperVeloce that Lamborghini uses.

It looks more like a C7 Corvette than a Ferrari, at the front, tbh. Nevertheless, it does and will look nice throghout the year, i hope.

And speaking about the rims.

In my opinion, the F12 rims (the same as the 599GTO?) are really nice and muscular rims:

Those 812 screwed rims are ugly, just like these screwed or propeller rims:

i like the overall design, but the holes/intakes in the bonnet and the rear bumper sides is just ugly. and whats up with the wheels? looks as if they was out of ideas and just twisted the GTO wheels in photoshop..
i prefer the 550/575 and 599 over this one.

As is the case with many Ferrari, photo's dont do it justice, I have seen a lot
of cars from Maranello , some from Pininfarina , some not, and they all look
so much better in the flesh. For example the Enzo, 550, FF,
I like the Superfast name, a look back to the past, and even if
Ferrari made a car and called it a Corvette I would buy it before
ever owning a Chevy....yuck. American sportscars dont cut it for me.

Well, look on the bright side....at least the rear no longer resemble a woman's body part  I will not be surprised they will use this designs as a benchmark and bring back quad rear lamps to their other line of cars as well. Previously the 458 Italia brought the new face to all new Ferrari's of this generation.

Currently the only line of cars that has yet to be "refreshed" are the flagships. We already got the Cali T, 488GTB and GT4C. The LaFerrari is the only car been rocking since 2013.

I think, like other cars, the design of this 812 will grow on us over time, just like the F12 or LaF. I would say that Ferrari design is transitioning from flowing shapes to the modern style of edges and creases galore; I for one applaud Ferrari designers for being daring and trying this style. It'll take time guys. And, I might be alone, but I absolute love the rear!

That being said, why did Ferrari pull the ass up so high and make the car look like a shooting brake? :dunno: :dunno:

It's okay but I'm sure it will grow on me once I see one in real life.

Im not a fan of this style wheel especially is all 4 wheels are angled in the same direction making it looks look backwards on the opposite side.  However, I do like the return to the quad tail lights.
