The first one had a bubble in the clear coat on the bonnet. Not the biggest thing in the world, but very noticeable in direct light. And paint is supposed to be the selling point of resin models, right?

So I sold it and ordered a new one. This time I swore to myself no partial refund, its going back if its bad.

Well, look at number two:

:gaah:

No more Otto for me, unless I get a chance to inspect in person.

I have bought probably 8 Otto models, and 2 has been good/no flaws.

E24 Alpina - So bad paint and prep, the worst of them all.
2x 400R One was horrid, several paint flaws and bad resin casting, crushed it. The other one is just a rough model in general.
Alpine 110 - good
Alpine 110 Le Mans car - very good
M5 Touring - bad windows on one side, badly attached + all sorts of uneven surface.
2x E36 M3 - crap.

far out thats worse than the 1st model you got... that paint run is ruining the model look completely. I am just wondering if the excess paint can be cut away and sand the panel gap.. no doubt that will be a lot of work.

You have to be very skilled to do that and then why spend many hours and take that risk...

Indeed.

Sorry to see your woes lateapex. I've felt that Otto had really improved their QC since their issues a number of years back. Shame that issues like this slip through the net. :mad2: :bawling:

In my opinion both OttO and GTS' quality control has slipped these last 9 months or so, which is a shame as they (GTS more so) were always praised by us for having very good qc with very few errors. I wouldn't even try to rectify that E36, just send it right back to where it came from.

Yea just a thought. I would only ever consider that if Otto has a reject section that sells these defective models for dirt cheap.

Yeah, that's terrible! it should never have been sent out.

I don't know what they're doing lately, if they do read this, please sort out your quality control!

Exactly! I haven't bought a newly released Otto/GTS model in at least 6 months (I think)

The seller said that Otto will contact me directly, probably to make me send this one back and then send me a third(!) car. If that one is bad, lol ...

Shim, if you want to do that that is fine by me, I dont want/cant be bothered to start a "campaign". :)

Sanchez, thats exactly my experience, albeit limited to two cars. My two French Otto models are sweet.

So nothing has happened, havent heard a peep from Otto, if that was happening at all. I dont want to name and shame the seller (yet), as he seems legit. However, I cant message him anymore since he activated return - or return has been initiated - the only option is "let us step in to help" since there is no return label.

What do you guys think? Its one week today, I am thinking going all scorched earth on monday.

He will have to deal with them as he was the one who bought it. They only help those who buy directly. I think you will have to ask the seller for a return shipping label and return it for a refund. They will have to then go on with Otto. If you do not get a label from the seller you can progress the case when the time comes.

Knowing how gts/otto are, they would send you a new painted body shell only and say fix the rest

GTS has not been perfect since day one, which is why I would always pre-order 2 of each; especially earlier when they were gone before you knew they were selling them. I'd rather deal with a direct return then replacement parts or another lotto replacement and keep the nice one in hand and send the dud back, which has been the case a few times.  In other cases with the much sought after models it netted me a nice profit down the road, sometimes paying for the one I kept and another model. Or I could always unload no problem it for break-even $. it is what it is.

Lately-other then in cases of unique race cars-I start to see most of my resin street cars as paperweights as time goes buy and the honeymoon ends.  My GTS wishlist has devolved from a constant 10+ models to only one now that's not even available yet.

I don't mind the resin race cars so much as many diecasts have removable panels that require a lot of space to display open anyway versus occasionally spinning a 959 around and opening the hatch on the shelf.

Between QC issues with resins and even new AUTOart models showing up with paint rash, I'm kind of in a mindset lately of collecting old releases that need some tlc and fixer-upers.  I hate having to do exchanges, especially asking for model #3 and getting shit about it from the seller. I've done some sort of sales all my life and would never get away with(nor try) the crap 90% of the people I buy stuff from try to push on me.   Half the new releases I was crazy over in the past year or two have come with qc issues, disappointing details, or ridiculous prices.  I'd almost rather chase down cheap deals on old kyosho ferraris and wet-sand out the rash as the new version of my 'hobby' and enjoy my $80 testarossa ebay turd, that thanks to ME, looks just like picture on the box.

I shipped the car today(!), exactly 14 days after requesting a return. The seller has been messaging me that he is trying to sort things out with Otto, but its starting to feel like an attempt at making the case go away by exceeding the time limit.

Oddly I have no option of posting a picture of a shipping receipt in the case thingy?
