How do you say Thank You for the 1000th time and have it still sound sincere?

I guess the only way is by really meaning it.

We all enjoy the benefit of having a really great thing here at DX.
Its had some moments and it has been proven that DX is not for everybody, many times as a matter of fact :giggle But for those of us that "get it" we know that there is no better place. And the reason that it is the best is really because of one person.
That person is Darrick. Quite simply, the amount of time and effort and expense this man invests to give us a place to hang out is amazing. :10
To be honest, sometimes I wonder why he keeps pounding his head against the wall but thats how he is. I have told him before he is a real bulldog and luckily for us, that is the reason DX is what it is.

Please join me and my fellow staff members in acknowledging and more importantly thanking our DX Man Of The Year, Darrick :10

Thanks, Buddy!
Your efforts are very much appreciated!

Jeff, I absolutely cannot say it any better than that, but I can certainly second those sentiments. Darrick does an outstanding job - his commitment and generosity are just boundless. The most deserved award of all :nicejob

Darrick, congrats on the award as it is a token of our collective appreciation for everything you are and do for the diecast community and hobby. You've truly sacrificed a lot to make this place happen and to sustain it over these years.  I can still remember those two hacks against this place and you worked tirelessly to rebuild the forum.  You'd think you worked for DX full time.  :giggle  But of course, like most of us, you do have a full time occupation so all the time you put in here is "your own time".  And I guess that's one of the things that makes this place so remarkable.  Thanks for all that you have done in 2006 for DX to be the remarkable diecast forum that it is!  :cheers

Thanks for the kind words gents, greatly appreciated on my behalf.

As I have a many different branches on my tree of life, DX is one branch that I equally enjoy as much as the others and that I often climb out on when I need just that much enjoyment.

At times it can be bittersweet, but for the most part, events like the MotY, phone calls with members, emails from members and countless other acts of comraderie is what keeps me smiling if not laughing my arse off. I have said many times before, its not the models that keep me coming back as I would have been gone a long time ago - but its those genuine friendships and acts of humanity that keeps me attracted and focused on DX.

As I have always been involved in the 1:1 local scene whether it be the Corvette Community or sportbike community, I've always had something to capture my attention. I never thought this hobby would last this long or get that indepth upon my part as I didn't know a single thing about it when I purchased my first model - but as I just mentioned, the friendships have taken it to that next level for me.

And to think - we are only just getting started really as we are still a young forum :giggle

Gents, thanks for taking the time and presenting this award to me as it was not only unexpected but a great gesture upon your part.

Its posts like this which makes the headaches from the brick wall a little duller :giggle

I would also like to take a moment and share the spotlight with my staff members who also puts in a great deal of work on DX. These gentlemen are guys who I tried to talk out of the position before offering it to them - as its not a job for everyone as there is a level of sacrifice that accompanies it. So its not so easy for me to bask in the spotlight as it has to be shared with them for their contributions as well.

Actually, they do all the work and I just take credit for it :lol

Darrick has a busy professional life, a big family, foots the bill for DX (and you just can't imagine how expensive it is to run a top notch forum like what we have here) and endures the headaches. What we the staff do here is basically micromanagement, the lion's share is all done by Darrick, don't think otherwise.

I really don't know how he manages it. And to add insult to injury, he still has to deal with a lot of crap from many people. Honestly, if it was me, I would had closed shop a long time ago.

With all that and the man is still around here, it's just amazing. So the least I can say to Darrick is thank you buddy. I really appreciate your effort with all this and the hobby. :cheers

I would love to take the credit but the credit goes elsewhere.
Felix started the ball rolling and kept things moving along with the staff.
John (Mox) did the actual award with lots of design help from the staff.
All I did was say "yeah, that looks good" :giggle  and post the award.

It was a total group effort :cheers

Darrick -

Simply, thankyou.

Ringers and staff: you do a wonderful job.  We are so privileged to be able to come here and have the friendships in this amazing space.  It is a joy to log on.

DX is the second site I visit: the first one is gmail.  It is there I get links to threads I have subscribed to!  Well technically, the first 'site' I visit is in fact DX.

Darrick, thanks mate.  Really, thankyou.  :cheers
