DiecastXchange Mini around the World

One thought that I had was the creation of two teams, one East-bound, the other West-bound. After taking volunteers, and charting the route, both cars would leave the central point on the same day, and we'd see when they crossed, and which team could get it back first. Each car would have to touch each major continent at least once, and we could give "bonus" credit for touching sub-continents (know anyone in Antarctica?).

Any interest out there :questionmark:

I'm passing this time.

It was fun once, I don't see any reasons to do it again, anyway, I've shown all I had to in the first run ... so if it works, I'll let the model go visit elsewhere!

Please support legitimate diecast dealers
who:
a.) are legal residents of the country they live in,
b.) have a sustainable pricing policy in place (not nickle-over-cost),
c.) offer exemplary customer service, and
d.) have a phone number they answer. If they don't want you to call, there's a reason!

If you commonly order from LA-area eBay sweatshops staffed with foreign transients, you're hurting this hobby!

I'd love to participate in something like this, but I can't see myself taking whatever diecast it may be for a drive around my town and taking photos of it. There really isn't much to look at in my town :lamende: .

I'm game, but please not use another Mini. Maybe a Maisto M5 because there will be more room for those who are participating to sign?

The Mini was nice because of that blank white roof as a nice writing surface.

I joined this forum after that thing went around, but I read through that thread a couple of months ago and thought this was just the coolest thing.

We should try to find a smallish lightish car to keep postage down. It can be quite expensive sending a model halfway around the world.

Agree. But then you would not want to pass the model half way across the globe at one go. You'd do that in stages and pass it to the nearest person to your location. No? That should keep the shipping cost low and DX does not need to come out with a lot of money reimbursing members. :wavetowel2:

I don't think DX is going to pay for shipping. It's up to the members to foot the bill.

I was reading on that other thread that by luck, one member got the model twice, and both times had to ship it out of the country.

How do we dictate who ships the model out of the country. IE, if it starts in the United States and goes to four other members in the US, and then the next one is France, which of those US members gets to ship it to France, etc?

Wow, now that it will be going to Slovenia, Lithuania, Malaysia, and a lot of other places we should definitely do it. Apparently it went to only 7 countries last time.
