I´ve downloaded the program, but can´t seem to use it...

On the file menu, I only get the option "close".
I´ve updated adobe air but still does´t work.

Any ideas?

Never heard of that issue before. You might want to try checking error.log or even completely removing the dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1 folder since you just installed the program. The program files are stored in the following locations:

Windows XP:   \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1\Local Store
Windows Vista:   \Users\<user>\AppData\dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1\Local Store
Windows 7:   \Users\<user>\AppData\dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1\Local Store
OS X:   ~/Library/Preferences/dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1/Local Store

Note to Windows XP users: You will need to change folder options to view hidden files and folders if you do not see the Application Data folder

Note to Windows Vista & Windows 7 users: You will need to change folder options to view hidden files and folders if you do not see the AppData folder

Note to OS X users: Use the Finder Go --> Go To Folder… menu option to open the ~/Library/Preferences folder. Then look for dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1

cachedimages – This folder contains the image files that you associate with items. Do not delete this folder; if you delete it you will lose all of the images.

dcdb.db – This is the program's database. Do not delete this file; if you delete it you will lose all of your item information.

error.log – This file contains any critical error information from the program. You can delete this file at any time.

groups.xml – this file contains information about the groups you have defined. Do not delete this file; if you delete it you will lose all of your group information.

import.log – This file contains any records that were not imported in the previous file import operation.

preferences.txt – This file contains the application settings. If you delete this file the program will revert back to the 'default' application settings.

I don´t have a clue on how to do that… I´m on a MAC and I´m not very good with it :yahoo:

Do you have any Antivirus programs running? If so try checking their logs or reports to see if they are maybe blocking the program  for some reason.

If not, in Finder use the Go menu and pick Go To Folder. In the window that appears type (or copy from below and paste in the window)
~\Library\Preferences

Then look for a folder named
dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1

It's probably best to just delete it since the program doesn't start correctly.

I changed the MAC language to English, and now it´s working… didm´t do anything else. Might that justify it?

Interesting. I never tried using it with a language other than English. That could very well be the problem.

What language were you using? Out of curiosity I might try to duplicate the problem.

Hi dbonser, nice program but I'm having a bit of a problem. I've just bought a new iMac and copied the app (from old iMac) to external hard drive and put it on the new mac. I also exported the data and reimported it but all records failed due to a minus sign in the price.
Where does the data get stored? I may be able to copy that and circumvent the export import.

Is this perhaps the location of my data?
OS X:   ~/Library/Preferences/dcdb.CD97172A60C8A280219A1491E77640CEF925B9AD.1/Local Store

Q2. Based in EU I use dd/mm/yy format but despite having changed that several times it defaults to mm/dd/yy and I cannot use 'my format'. I run English language - can't get used to Dutch.

Portuguese. I just changed the language to English and now it works perfectly! It´s brilliant by the way. Thank you very much for sharing!

1. Copying the entire Local Store directory to your new Mac is the way to transfer all of your data (so no problem with the '-' sign). Exporting/importing will get the data only - no group information or images. The directory you posted is the location of the data.

2. The program ignores date formats and always uses MM/DD/YYYY. I thought about handling other locales but that was as far as I got.

I just tried and I see what the problem is. The program builds the menus when it starts and does so by finding the English menu items. They don't exist when the OS is in Portuguese so the menus are never created and, therefore, you can't do anything. Unfortunately you will need to have the OS set to English to be able to use the program.

I posted this in the status update and it disappeared, not sure if it was not according to rules.

I was checking if it was possible to have a master database for all members or established members for all car registry. It would be great to look at all the numbers. I dont know if thats not allowed or against the rules. A simple spreadsheet or a page would also do.

Hello Douglas,

Would you be so kind as to post the most current link to your software database program.  You have made numerous alterations and fixes to it, and it would be really helpful to link to the latest version here.

Thanks for all your untiring work and attention to detail.
