Found another Bertby cabinet locally and picked it up for $40. That's my 3rd silver, which are all on display, and I have 3 extras for when I get more room (2 are painted to match) to put them up.
I hope you didn't find this on Detroit Craigslist....I have been searching for MONTHS.

Hope I don't ruin your day but yes I did. It was in Ann Arbor.

Don't know if you have heard of it, but I use www.searchtempest.com to make browsing CL tolerable.  You can search multiple cities at once based on distance and get all the results quickly. While that's a great tool, the real trick is what keywords you use to search (figuring how the average person might describe it).  It won't be "Ikea Bertby" 99.9% of the time, that's for sure ;)

I search Ann Arbor and Detroit CL's every day using terms like "display case" and "ikea display" and others.  What did you use to find this one?

It was either "Ikea wall" or "Ikea dvd".  Those are the only 2 phrases I've used to find all 6 of mine.  People either call them a "wall (unit/shelf/cabinet/etc.)" or simply a "DVD (unit/shelf/cabinet/etc.)"

Nothing High-end like what's been posted as of late, but I grabbed these 3 from the local Costco $15 each. One Vette and the Viper are mine, the other Vette is for a friend. I already have the dark blue Vette and a red Viper, but I grabbed them to use for future mods.

Wait so does that mean that costco is now selling diecast everywhere? I better check my local store!

I'll take that one and that one and that one!

The trick is to hide the box. Then when you get the inevitable "is that one new?", you can say "oh no, I just turned it the other way so it looks new". Works!

No chance of that working for me.  She doesn't even ask if it's new, just asks what it is.  She just knows LOL.

Finally tracked down one of these with a best offer on ebay (sellers pic):

Well this one arrived ... but would anyone here stick this in a thin plastic postage bag with no protection whatsoever??? :dunno:

That's a shame, some people just don't have a clue.
Is it badly damaged?

Tell me about it - I've had my share of shoddy packing efforts but at least they usually make some attempt.  I'll have to check it over closely but thus far it doesn't seem too bad apart from the box being a bit rough.  Went to the effort to find one described as "new" and this is how they ship it.  :gaah:

I can't believe someone only shipped in that bag!! That is terrible. Mind you once I had a model come without even that. They wrote the address on a sticky label & stuck it on the box!

No Craig. The rear wheels don't look so bad in person. The pictures made it look worst than it actually is.

Wow!!! The audacity of some people! I received a diecast about a week ago. It was NIB but when I got it was broken and missing pieces. This was due to the sellers faulty packaging. Well, actually, there was no packaging. They shipping it in the normal Ertl authentics window box with 1 layer of wrapping paper as protection. It didn't have any note protection than a present under a Christmas tree or a Birthday gift.....

Some people don't have a clue....

I remember once receiving a loose model in a box, with a couple crumpled up pieces of newspaper as protection. It was bouncing around the entire way. I think a rear wheel and a mirror broke off. The mirror was able to be put back into place using its peg, and the wheel, thankfully, was a clean enough break that I was able to perfectly glue it back to the hub. The seller gave me a huge discount on it because of the trouble, but I was able to keep it looking mint anyway.

I once got one shipped to me in just that plastic bag... no box. Somehow, only the mirror came off!
