Are you going to convert the 2005 bike to Gauloises to match the figure? Funny how minichamps let this figure out with gauloises, i think its just so people dont convert them & sell them for $$

To change the Theme a little bit ....

Here's Ayrton Senna's Lotus 97T which brought him his First F1 Win in Portugal 1985.

The 1:12 Scale Model has been fitted out with the Full JPS Livery as used in the race.

The Rain Tyres on this Car look phenomenal !

Being a Bike person I will of course have to pair Aryton's car with the MV Agusta F4-1000 Senna 2006 release ;)

The 1:12 bike scale model is also by Minichamps.

Valentino Rossi 2006 Ducati Test Livery

Here are some more pictures of Rossi's rumoured test for Ducati back in 2006 at the Phillip Island circuit.

Some Background for Non-MotoGP readers:

After testing the Ducati , Rossi declined
to be the Ducati MotoGP ride for the same reasons as he had done with  Honda in 2004.

He wanted to prove he is the best rider purely on his  talent, not because he had the best bike.

Whilst Ducati did win the 2007 Championship -  Rossi won back the
MotoGP Championship back for Yamaha in 2008 & 2009.

Lorenzo won it for them this year , but , we would never know how the season would have finished IF Rossi & Pedrosa were not injured.

And now Onto the Conversions

Both Bike & Figurines are 1/12 Scale Minichamps models which have been converted to Ducati Livery.

A few Rossi Rarities

The very ltd ed Valentino Rossi Barcelona Minichamps release of 650 pcs:

Posted Image

This release is in the Chequered flag box of Minichamps as below :

Posted Image

The above model also has the 123 xxxx numbering used by Minichamps for  special one-off releases like the 2004 Haga Koji ,2004 WDW  Capirossi  & 2009 Nicky Hayden Laguna Seca Releases.

I'll post more on the difference of this Ltd Edition release and the later General (but still Ltd)  release done by Minichamps

Left:      '08 Ltd Ed Barcelona bike + Barcelona Grid figurine (conversion)
Middle:  '04 Koji bike with  '06 Rossi Ducati figurine
Right: '06 Rossi Ducati test bike &  figurine.

Left:   2008 Ltd Ed Barcelona Release
Right: 2007 IRTA Test Livery

Posted Image

The Barcelona bike is an awesome tribute to the Great Race Rossi rode

He qualified 9th on the Grid , then dropped to 12th in the first lap but rode hard to finish in 2nd !

The Barcelona Bike is more special for  me as it is signed by Rossi in his home town of Tavullia   :)

From Left - 08 Barcelona (Signed by Rossi) , '07 IRTA Test Livery , '04 Haga Koji Livery & '07 Rossi Valencia Paddock bike

The "Cartoon" bike was a special One-off Livery which was supposed to ridden in Valencia during the Free Practise & the parades.

But according to the news articles at the time there was some disagreement and Rossi didn't end up riding it.
It just sat there next to the trailer.

This release is also a bit strange as usually Minichamps dont make a LOT of Test bikes etc so do this one just for the Livery is unusual but it was a release of only 3999 pieces so I am glad to have this one :)

Cheers :wavetowel2:

Minichamps Rossi Barcelona Models - Part 2

Minichamps did 2 releases of the Barcelona livery ..

The First 2009 release was only 650 pcs limited edition in a chequered flag box.
This was a special release for AiA Wudy company having the Model number starting with 123xxx.
It used the 2007 M1 bike base model in-spite of it being a 2008 M1.

The Second 2010 release was a regular release but still limited to 5999 pcs in normal Rossi Sun & Moon  box.
This has the normal Rossi model number starting with 122xxx.
This model uses the right 2008 model base.

The pictures below shows the difference between the 2 models:

Left is the 2008 Barcelona livery on 2007 M1
Right is the 2008 Barcelona livery on 2008 M1

And here are the bikes with matching Rossi figurines.

Left: 2009 Barcelona release ( 650 pieces ) with Rossi starting grid conversion Barcelona figure
Right: 2010 Barcelona release ( 5999 pieces) with matching Minichamps Rossi  Barcelona figure

Hope this was helpful info for the 2 releases by Minichamps.

I have a 2004 Gauloises Rossi bike in checkered flag box. What can you say about this release? :bawling:

Glad they helped you out twenty3 :)

The chequered flag releases are always the First or Original issue of the model.

Minichamps seem to have moved this design now to the One-Off releases and use the Rossi "Sun & Moon" design for all the Rossi releases.

Even though your Barcelona bike is the regular release the Ltd Ed of 5999 pcs will make it more valuable as time goes by !

You can gauge this by how much The 2004 Testbike sells for now - a few years after it's release ;)

Do you have the Barcelona figure as well ? It's an great combination !

Cheers,
RTG :bawling:

Nice to see another Rossi collector, I’m unto date with his releases now but I never got the WUDY bike as it was the wrong machine but it was produced for the company itself and mainly given away. Most if not all found their way onto E-bay where the prices were way over the top. But it nice to see the differences between both models. I for one are pleased to see him go to Ducati, it’s a marques that I have ridden for years starting with a 125cc super sport and ending up with a limited edition Senna bike. I can wait to see just what he can do on the Ducati. Love your conversions wish I had the talent to make them, congratulations
Steve

I prefer the presentation version of the R8 than any livery version. It looks great without those silly designs and logos on the body.

Hi Super Snail

Thanks for your comments  :)
Initially when the Wudy bike came out , it was a must have for me just because It is a great tribute to the way Rossi raced

The bike was hard to resist esp since I got it through a friend in  Italy who then got a couple of bikes signed by Rossi in Tavullia !!

So it's very special to me and amongst my favourite bikes=D

For sure 2011 will be a great year for MotoGP - Fingers crossed all the riders keep good health !
The Conversions are amongst my other favourites so please stay tuned as I'll be posting some new ones soon

I've followed your collection so congrats on your many acquisitions mate !

Many Thanks mac47 :occasion14:

My bike collection is my main focus at the moment so it is hard not to display the cars !

The choice is made harder by the size of the bikes versus cars too !!

But I do plans to buy another display cabinet just for the cars so might not be too far away ;)
