The Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition was rumored to be a beast but with word of an official time of around 7:14 it jumps to the top five fastest production cars to ever run The Green Hell.

It's a shame Toyota can't give it the name it diserves: MKV Supra.
This IS the Supra, but Toyota has pansied out and want to give it a luxury name plate so all the rich girls can drive it to the mall. Gotta love amerikan marketing. :wavetowel2:

I get your point about Supra's historic place in Toyota's lineup as its top sports car.  But the Supra was also relatively affordable.  The Lexus LFA, meanwhile, had an MSRP of $375K USD when it was announced in late 2009.  I also think Lexus was chosen because the LFA is the flagship for the F series of performance cars, just as the IS-F is the performance version of the IS series, and a GS-F is likely as well when the redesigned GS goes on sale.  I also think Lexus was eager to re-establish itself as a manufacturer of serious luxury and performance cars since it has lost its way to competitors in recent years.

I would have liked to see Toyota name the FT-86 the Celica, and an enhanced version of it could have been named the Supra.  Instead the FT-86 is being marketed as the Scion FR-S here in North America at least, and to me that's a disappointment since the Scion brand does nothing for me and Toyota desperately needs something exciting in its North American lineup.  A Celica/Supra series would have filled that bill nicely.
