A lot of my Kyoshos have this issue as well as a few Norevs. It really sucks. This is not related to the way the car is stored, treated, or displayed etc. It's solely Kyosho's [crappy] job painting the model.
I agree, I dont think silica gel will help.

Yes, I dont even think my models are sell-able as they are.

I've bought some Tamiya Modeling Wax, will see if that helps at all

My Kyosho 250 GTO, Ferrari F40 LW, Nissan GTR, Lambo Miura all have that same problem, silica gel does nothing.

My A8 (last generation) and BMW 7 Individual (last generation) are pretty bad. I think the older it is, the worse it is.

All of my Kyosho's have this paint rash. Actually most of my cars have the rash but Kyosho's are the worst.

There is no reason for this, especially when my ten year old Bburago models are without a blemish!

I got paint rash on my Autoart Bullitt Mustang, E30, Pajero Evolution (the latter two being red). No such problems on my UTs except for the Ueno Clinic F1 GTR. Next to nothing on 95% of my Maistos and Bbruragos even though the precede the Kyoshos and Aas by many years.

Does this problem affect Red cars the most? Does it happen on any colour?

My Ferrari's from them are all Red, but none have this problem. None of my other models from them are Red - if it happens to my M3 CSL I'll be mega pissed.

wow, it looks like this problem is more widespread than I could have imagined . I just can't dare to buy a Kyosho again. One of mine took five years to start showing  signs of deterioration, so who knows how it might effect newer ones. Going to send this thread to them

Sadly no.. Pearl and metallic collors are not so in bad shape as normal collors :(

The worst are red Ferrari models from Kyosho ;)..
Also my silver 996 GT2 have on bonnet.. Red minichamps Bentley Continental GT 2003 on roof, red autoart 996 Turbo near rear wheels, Autoart White Bmw 2002 Turbo, blue Kyosho BMW M3 GTR Street version ( this is so baad ) and 1:12 black Lamborghini Murcielago also.. A lot of this crap on it.. , black Kyosho M3 CSL,.....................

But If you repaint your models.. Than it's OK ;)

All of my Kyosho Ferraries have this problem, but on small parts of the body, and yes, they are all red.
308 GTB '76, 512 BBi, 328 GTB, F40, 365 Daytona Competizione.

Had this problem on Hot Wheels Elite dark red 125s on the door. Wet sand with really fine sand paper, apply hard wax, and then high shine wax (Carnauba) - like new.

REMEMBER : No circular moves when applying hard wax (polish).

This is weird because only my DE Kyosho models have paint issue: E60 M5, E92 3 Series Coupe, and last generation 7 Series.

All of my hobby Kyosho models have good paint.

AUTOart Lamborghini Huracan

Well, as if this couldn't get any worse, whilst applying the Tamiya wax to the Daytona I managed to accidently take the photoetched 'F' of the Ferrari badge!
And on top of that, the finish hasn't improved. Fookin hell!

This sucks, because Kyosho is my favorite brand, largely because of its BMW, Audi, and Ferrari subject matter.  I'm going to look carefully at the ones I have and choose future purchases much more carefully as well.

Bad news that. Did you polish the car before waxing it ? wax should be the last process.
