Hi guys,

As I mentioned in the thread here, we want to create a monthly contest to select the DX member who has exhibited the best qualities of the forum. You are all welcome to nominate the one person you think embodies the spirit of community. Whether it's advice, a kind deed or a general positive attitude. Whatever it was that made your time at DX enjoyable that month now would be the time to let everyone know. The only rules are that you can only nominate one person (not yourself) and you have to submit a story as to why that person deserves the win. One person can be nominated multiple times for different instances. At the end of the month, we will put up a poll and allow everyone time to read through the stories and vote for the DX'r that deserves the most recognition that month. To celebrate the inaugural event there will be a special prize that EVERY COLLECTOR WILL WANT IN THEIR TOOLBOX!

The Gerber Crucial Tool, with this tool you will be able to do everything you need to do to rescue your latest prize from its plastic and cardboard cage. It is a box opener, philips and flat head screwdriver, pliers and to celebrate the latest add, a bottle opener! *In the event postal regs prohibit this from being mailed to your country(or you'd just prefer not to have it) a cash equivalent prize of $25 usd will be paypal'd to you instead.

Note, since I am the runner of the contest I am not eligible for nomination.

Tool1.JPG Tool2.JPG
Tool3.JPG Tool4.JPG

So get those stories started in this thread! Nominations are open until the end of June and the voting will commence the first week of July! Thank you all for taking the time to read this and for nominating a DX'r! :occasion14: :wavetowel2:

I want to nominate Craigj3534. The reason being is that he has helped many DXer's save money with his bulk order discounts, myself included. It's not really a story, but just a fact.

Good choice littlerock, here are some pictures of Craig's living room when he was splitting up our orders to give you an idea of the work involved..

I'd  like to nominate BigDave7872.
After I posted my collection the other week, Dave saw that I only had a few models. Without being prompted or me asking for it, Dave sent me a PM asking to send me a free gift. When I asked about shipping, he simply said 'dont worry about it' and the very next morning he puts it in the mail (first class!) and gives me a tracking number. Literally the day after, it landed on my doorstep well packed and safe(I've got to thank Prawny1:23 for some of that lol). It was a Zonda Cinque! :wavetowel2:

Many of the people who say DX isn't what it used to be do have a point, but it sure as hell ain't dead yet. This is the DX spirit. Not handing out free models, but the willingness to do something really nice for a fellow member.
I hardly knew Dave on DX before this. When he first joined, which was not even long ago, i noticed he didn't live too far from me and so we exchanged afew friendly PMs. And yet although I didn't do anything to deserve such a gesture, he still did it out of the goodness of his heart! This man is worthy of this DX member of the month award by a mile. And that is certainly no small feat considering that we are in one of the best places on the internet :D

Dave, If theres any way I can repay you just let me know.
I dont drink, but till then, have a virtual one on me ----> :occasion14:

Wow ... nice little tool!!

I'd like to mention Motorhead becasue he helped me find and sent me a white hood and trunk for my Las Vegas police cruiser that I was looking for ... made me save money!

Might not be much and might seem a little ordinary to some, but to me, I was very happy to save money to buy a complete model only for those 2 parts!

I've appreciated the gesture! :occasion14:

Well I don't see why I would get a nomination as I didn't do anything special to be nominated, I'm sure some deserve it way more then me so no need for anyone to mention my name, but still ... just for the Bob & Doug figures, I would want to nominate myself!

I'm going to go ahead and nominate Craig also.  All the work he has put forth towards all the group buys and refunds and so on.  He has been nothing but a class act every time I've dealt with him.  And I hope he is relaxing on his vacation now, he deserves it!

Honorable mention to Tony just because.

Wow! Lots of great nominations happening here.

I would like to nominate Eddy (mairandeddy) for all of his hard work. This guy runs circles around this place on a daily basis, and always injects his gracious and helpful attitude into the majority of the forum threads. Eddy does a lot of "behind the scenes" work that goes unnoticed (but greatly appreciated), but never expects anything in return. For these reasons, Eddy deserves a shot at that shiny new multi-tool! :occasion14:

Oh come on Tony, I wanted to nominate you!  First reason being this contest!  But if you insist on someone else, my nod goes to Matt, aka Biblitect.  Even with being a very busy father and husband, he not only found the time to come back to DX, but also took on the leadership role that he has always been simply perfect for.  Clearly, he's a guy who cares about DX and is just a tremendous contributor.  Also, he's a very nice person and can be just about anyone's friend.  Major bonus points for running the Around the World tour and also the DX Facebook group!
