Something a bit different here guys.
Below are the progress pics of a 612 GT racer that Mondial-Models is building for me, showing the evolution of the bodywork from the base model and kit.
Enjoy

In general I am not a fan of fantasy cars, but this looks cool. Looks like a lot of work went into it.
I have seen a couple of 1:24 plastic models turned into something similar. One of them was done like the Comp Daytona from LM in blue white and red and it looked fantastic.

Nooo one thing I hate about catching the build early on, is that I have to wait for the progress :gaah:

Manfreds work is always a pleasure to see Phatboi : )

Thanks all.
The 612 is in the process of being painted. I'll post the pics of the painted body once I received them.
Just realised that I'm not sure where the exhaust are on the image, it looks like its coming out of the side skirts? I'm not sure if Manfred has picked up on this on the model.
Would it be silly to have the exhaust below the rear diffuser for a race car?

What I really like from mondial-models is, they always swap the dogleg hinges to the normal ones. Congrats to the new adds...

This is the origional full kit that I bought from eBay:
Posted ImagePosted Image

I believe this is from the French kit maker APYCARs. When I saw it I bought it immediately as I haven't seen anything like this in 1/18. I also believe there were very few of these made.
As you can see, Manfred likes to basically cut and crop pieces from a kit and apply it onto a proper base model in order to have full opening feature as well as a stronger body. He's also modified the bonnet and side panels extensively to represent the concept image. It was a shame to destroy the kit but I believe the end result will be much better.

For the interior, he'll be using a donor from a Kyosho 575 GTC as well as the rims.

Thanks all.
I wasn't too sure about the black rear fender as well when I first saw it, but I think it will look a lot better once the model is finished and decals are added. If it doesn't look good then I'll just get it painted red.

Almost done!
A few changes to be made, first of which will be to change the wheels to something else. Might go for a staggered look with 18" fronts and 19" rears BBS.
Also need to add a few more sponsor decals across the rear bumper

Finally, it's amazing! But it's true that a little bigger wheels would be good :D

EDIT: I asked Apycars, and it's one of its kit ;)

Thanks all.
Bigger wheels are on the way, most likely black BBS will do the trick.
And a few more decals on the body and all should be good.
Thanks for looking
