"I thought it would help the community if we started a thread where we could post pricing information on our recent acquisitions. This will serve a few functions
1) Be a central thread where we could all research the latest market price (going rate) for any model (new or old).
2) Use this as a possible guide to determine possible selling prices
3) Fun, just to see who got a great deal and see if they can share where it was found

The intent of the thread is to have a market guide and works best if as many members as possible post a few pieces of information about what they bought, when it was bought and possibly where it was bought.

It's probably best to only add purchases bought in the last few months in order to keep the market prices as fresh as possible. What do you all think?

Here is mine, if we can keep the layout as below, that would be great.

Manufacturer:
Brand:
Model:
Colour:
Scale:
D/O/P:
Country:
Price paid:
Shipping cost.
Condition: New
Seller: Ebay seller

I've promised myself I will buy the Exoto #63 Michelin Sauber C9, as it's just the most beautiful thing, but their usual prices for their catalogue are a touch too high for me.

I got this from a 'dented box' sale at the Exoto site. The box doesn't have a single thing wrong with it, not that I actually care about the box, nor model...I'm promising myself not to take it all out and set it all up before I get my display sorted [3/4 weeks time].

This, including delivery to the UK, was a smidge under £60.

I'd like to know what's your best diecast bargain, within context.

Well, as Mike mentioned I got the Mazda 787 for around $25. Got the #59 UT Mac for $22 and just the other night I got a UT 996 Porsche for $2.51.
I did get a Sauber by trading a Maisto Vette for it.

I was very happy to buy a Danbury Mint/Ertl Brawner Hawk Indy car for $150 when the going price was $500+

Maybe my best deal was buying a Franklin Mint at a garage sale for silly money ($20ish) and selling it for over $400

Reason why 1:43 scale cars aren't that popular because most people including me(sorry it I offend) consider them toys and not Collectable model cars. .

Should you collect 1:43?

In my opinion, no if you can afford 1:18 models. First of all, most people will think of them as toys, while 1:18 models can look as something classy if you have a few.

I guess when the shipping costs more than the model, Jeff, you've got a bargain!

Bit envious of the price of the 787b. All seem to be around the £90 mark over here...

Congrats on the Jag by the way, 'dent' box sales are a great way to save money.

hi all i have gotten hold of a few bargains of late . a shop that sold models here in my little part of the world has just shut down no more models here anymore ,
anyway they were selling off all their goods for half price the had hundreds of 1/18s 1/43s and so on when you pay $170.00 for a model getting it for$80.00 i one hell of a drop so i cashed in as much as i could all australian cars but they had a big assortment of auto art model from everywhere .
the trouble is it was a once only and lost the last shop here to  --it happens.

I was walking in a flea market one day and i saw a vendor with a small selection of diecast. They were typical stuff like hotwheels and maisto. Then right at the end of the row was a UT BMW M3  GTR in white. He wanted $40.00 for the car, I managed to squeeze him down to $30.00. Best deal I ever encountered.

:cheers

I bought a UT Porsche GT2 in red and a UT Porsche GT2R Superflow (The tiger car) for just $60 each .

How about  the black UT Porsche Turbo S and the very rare UT Porsche GT2 Evo for just $30 each .....both brand new .

Not bad considering they can pull over $300 each :joy

Wow... there are some great deals out there!  Anyone of you care to share your secrets with the if us?

Personally, I haven't been buying a whole lot this year.. but my best deals pale in comparison to most here.

Exoto Porsche 934 & 935 "X-Ray" / "JMS Racing" for $100.00 each.

Autoart Toyota GT-One TS020 #3 for $45.00

Autoart Ford Mustang Cobra R for $25.00

I know this is an old thread, but do these prices factor in shipping? Because I know some ebay sellers charge outrageous shipping rates and low auction prices.

I got a HWY 61 Boss 429 mustang from my local diecast shop that the front spoiler,  bumper and rear spoiler had come off in shipping and the box was prety beat up, his distributor sent him another one to replace it and dident want the old one back so he sold it to me for what he had in UPS charges $11.00 after a couple drops of super glue looks good as new.
I also got from the same dealer a GMP 1/12 GT40 Bruce McLaren/Chris Amon car for $325 and the Mario Andretti 1/12 GT40 for $395, they only made 250pcs of the Andretti and I have seen that car go for $700.

Around a year ago the local Toys R Us started selling off all their Maisto and Bburago stocks. Why I have no idea as they now only bring in a few Hot Wheels and bling bling !!
Anyway, I picked up 6 for $12 each including 3 Corvettes, Dodge Viper, Shelby Series 1 and Merc 300SLR.
Nice haul at the time :giggle

An old topic, but I guess my best deals would still stand with my UT 993 Turbo at  $42 and black Turbo S at $45 both by UT and were local pick ups. Not as great a deal as Sir Gary's but I'm still very happy about them  :happy

I would imagine you'd have to add shipping and customs duties if applicable as at the end of the deal, that is how much the car cost you by the time it hit your shelf.
