Thats a good idea Sanchez but I think its highly unlikely that numbers will repeat. They probably have spare blank cars and when the receive a faulty one back they either fix that or add the number to a spare car they have.

Guys, think of one thing. All Otto's issues was with german cars. I had no big problems with my Citroens or Peugeots or Renaults or Ventury. Maybe this is just coincidence, don't know, but this happens to these people, who allways complains on quality ;)

I have never had any big issues with my 10+ OTTOs..
Maybe I am just lucky or something
There is always small paint flawes but nothing that bother me much.. Looks good on display in my cabinets.
But the stance on some cars needs adjusting. But hey, thats just fun work  :nice:

Funn.. Yes.. If you don't have another 20 projects allready opened :D

My quality standarts are quiet high. I had 14 Otto models. No one had flaws like yours.

What are you saying? People that collect german cars alway complain about quality control issues? I sure hope not.

I happen to collect German cars (if my username didn't make that obvious enough) and personally, I wouldn't think my standards of quality are above average. After shipping, Paypal fees and whatnot, I paid $95 for each of my M3 GT's . For nearly $100, I should get perfection, or at least near perfection, not a big blob of paint on the roof like mine had.

Otto seems to produce at least 2000 of each BMW release and typically sell out by the day after each model is released. Perhaps a rush to finish the models causes lots of flaws. I know for a fact they do not take the serial number off the flawed car and put in onto a replacement blank, because I had two replacements sent, and they never asked for the serial numbers to my cars.

I have found the more box like the shape is the more likely it has had imperfections.

Minor imperfections have been ignored.

1 x BMW M5 E39 - minor flaws and blob of paint on bonnet - Decided to keep it as they had no replacements.
1 x Mk1 Golfs (had minor imperfection poor detailing) - Decided to keep it as they had no replacements.
4 x XR2's bad paint runs (Replacements were worse then the ones they replaced) Car 5 and 6 were acceptable.
4 x Fire and Ice - First 2 were shocking. Replacement 2 one has poor paint. Other has good paint but one of the rear glass is wonky.

I like my cars to be of high quality and expect that they should be since they advertise themselves as high quality.

I have bought in excess of 50 ottos and also find the cars they produced earlier were better put together and quality overall.

Just my 2p

I'm wondering what all of the resllers like Modellisimo & CK do ?? they sell them now, but they'll be sealed up, so if there are QC problems they won't know until the buyer tells them & asks to return it, I bet it's a real headache for them!

I seem to be lucky, my cars are ok. The last ones I bought were a Golf R32 & Megane R26-R, they had no problems at all.

I believe the earlier releases were 39 euro while the later ones were 44 euro. It's interesting how you pay more and get less

I guess it is going to be no OTTO for me after all these problems, specially with the BMW's (which I happen to collect). Maybe somebody else decides to release a 1:18 E39 of a better quality one day...although I will not get my hopes too high.

Ok.. I must say this is really the last OTTO model from them... ( Well it must be a really special car if I'll ever buy some from them.. )

Bad paint - worst then on the first car.. On the hood there are scratches.. I was like WTF?
The second thing. Can someone please look at their M3 GT if only I have problems with chassis or this is standard on those M3 GT's ?
Well mine arrived like that:

I don't think they check them before sending, I think they come from China & then they just send them from France without opening the poly box.

The chassis on my replacement model is like that. My defective models are packed away. I can check them when I get time.

The paint on my replacement model has more scratches than the first, but at least it's fairly even and not cracked.

I'm wondering about Otto's numbering system. It seems to have no sequence at all. I got #2418 and #1892 the first time around. My replacement is #1576

This may be my last Otto, but I really wanted the 3 Series Sedan they announced. Maybe I'll order one model this time.

My collecting focus is German cars as well.  And I don't complain about quality, because my German cars (AUTOart, Kyosho, Norev) are all in generally excellent condition.  Any flaws in any of the models I have are few and small so they are insignificant to me.  So yes, I don't get that statement.

While we're throwing out theories about Otto's recent lapses in quality control, could it be that Otto puts a bit more care into the quality of its French cars?   :icon_scratch:

BMW Fan - the numbers seem to be random. Only once when buying a pair of models have I had consecutive numbers. I often by pairs (keep one, sell the other later) but those numbers have been random.

What gets me is 1/12 Renault Clio - sold out... only now it's available to buy   Same for the Yellow Audi RS4, sold out then they said they'd done some more, I think they hold a load back to sell later (or exchange)

6 out of 7 models I got this month had some form of issue.

Checked them all.

Pug 106 1: scratches roof
Pug 106 2: glue on door/decal
Citroen XM: trim stripe peeling
Venturi 400 1: harness decal come off but otherwise good.
Venturi 400 2: front decal awful/wheels look kerbed
Corrado 1: Mint
Corrado 2: very minor paint issue exceptable

Im contacting them to reduce next months order from 6 cars to 4.

I buy one to keep one to sell so this does not make resale easy for genuine sellers
who check the product they are selling.

Depending how bad the scratches are, you'll probably be able to polish them out.
