Further to Gwaz's astute observations here.., it would appear that we have been quite negligent.... :lamende:
.....Although our DX banner would suggest we are still in our 8th year, we are actually approaching our TENTH anniversary.... :omg:

...so I raised the issue with Admin, and we've had the go ahead to replace the existing DX banner with a new one to celebrate............... a DECADE of DX!   :wavetowel2:

However obviously we have to present a 'Professional Public Persona' so there are restrictions as to what we can use...

...there's no use in re-inventing the wheel, so I've simply referred to (DX Hall of Famer) Mox's guidelines that were used as guidelines for the previous (7th Anniversary) competition......(with a couple of 'tweaks' ) .. so this is what he dun wrote.....

'' If you look at the top of the page you will see the blue area where it says

"diecastXchange
Complete diecast collector's forum"

that is the area you'll be replacing.

Please note: This banner will only run until Admin say otherwise.....at which point it may be substituted....

Now, the basic rules:

1) The banner must be no larger than 465 X 100.

2) It must include the following text:
diecastXchange
diecast collector's forum

celebrating our 10th anniversary

3) In addition, you may include "banner designed by (your user name)". This MUST be small and unobtrusive...font no larger than 12, a color that won't jump out at you (for example bright red), and placed out of the way in a corner.

4) In order to blend in with the rest of the forum layout, this is the background you must use:

Posted Image

5) Please submit your banner in .jpg and .psd formats.

6) Deadline for submissions is March 31st and voting will end April 8th.

Thank you, good luck, and have fun (and become famous!).''

... thanks for that John (Mox)... ALSO....

Please note that it should not include any identifiable brand logos or celebrity's or individual's images or references......

.so it's over to you guys now!!! Post 'em below!!!! :hope: :hope: :hope: :wavetowel2:

Wouldn't it be better, to say "since 2003" instead of "celebrating our 10th anniversary"? So you have no need, to update the banner every year.

That's a thought Nicki, but isn't that the same as tattooing 'born in 19xx' on your forehead rather than having an annual birthday party???

Does this mean we're having some project x style party for Diecastxchanges 10th birthday? :wavetowel2:

I thought I give it a try.
This is a thirst sample, maybe there will be some different versions later on.
I have also some questions;
- there seems to be plenty of space in the banner, is it possible to get a bit more width ?
- is it absolutely necessary to include "also@diecast.org" ?

Of course I meant "first" and not "thirst", . . . ok, now I am getting myself a beer.

I am up for that.. but if anyone breaks my models, the rose clippers come out.. and fingers will get snipped !!!  :nice:

@ Ted... that 2nd one  looks like a very good banner for the 10th anniversary ..

I thought of a banner, which has always valid, Eddy. And on the anniversary you can set a note on the banner for a few days. I made a banner as an example to illustrate it, because my English is so bad. :gaah:

Here is the version with the required content.

And here you can see, how it would look like in the header.

Serious collectors don't buy budget models? Hahahaha...that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard

I really like this one. It feels more mature than the current. It also shows that DX is worldwide and diverse in what types of models we care about here. Great one Nicki.

The creativity and talent are definitely among us - just look at all of the fancy signatures out there. However, there is a lack of community spirit. Games, contests, and events aren't as popular here at DX anymore. Just ask Mox about that. This contest was very competitive 3-5 years ago! Things have changed, sadly. But, you're graphic deserves to win, Nicki. It's perfect for DX! :occasion14:
