I'm 63 and I can tell you that a concern of my model car contemporaries is that the hobby is dying with us.  Looking at the average age here with 88% being under 35, the hobby looks like it's in good shape!  I love seeing younger people embracing model car collecting!

I'm 41 and just recently found this forum. I have a total of 19 models currently and I used to get a new one every year @ Christmas. Now that I have been on the forum I am planning a trip to a model shop on my next business trip. This forum has renewed my interest and I would like to thank all of the members for igniting my passion for this hobby again!

Just turned 28 this month. It's great to see all ages getting into this hobby.

No matter the scale, brand, or model - looks like the collectors are just as much as varied!

19, been collecting since I was 15, joined this forum when I was 16 !

Sadly, the generation after mine doesn't seem to be much interested in anything except iPads :gaah:
Collecting diecasts is like eating Pistachios. You can never stop after the 1st one :)

17, been collecting since 15. And yup sure seems like most of the kids in my age group (1998) are into iPads and iPhones more than anything!

Don't worry man I'm not starring at iPads all day :giggle:  I just turned 14 last December. This is not a dying hobby and anyone that does see my cars are always interested. When ever a younger kid comes over he always asks for one, and I tell him how to start. At Sams or Costco :nice:

Funny I missed your comment but oddly I was chatting with a friend who voiced the same feeling about the 1/24 scale kit hobby slowly dying. But then I pointed out its far more progressive in asia and europe than it is in america. I hope it turns around sooner than later.

I thought there would be more guys on here around my age. I'm 46. When I started collecting autoart models were priced more like 65 to 75 dollars

Lol I got about two more years before I join the 35~44 group. If I haven't built a display for my collection by then I will shoot myself buy even more models I have no place to store ;)

I just turned 40 a few months ago, which leaves me in the middle of my age range and the middle of the DX community, apparently!

I've been collecting off and on for over 20 years, and while my interests and the pace at which I collect have changed from time to time, I expect I will keep collecting these little cars as long as I can!

Interesting topic! I'm 25 and just joined here a few days ago. Although the last time I bought something was over 5 years ago, I had been "collecting" since I was single digit age, mostly Bburago and Maito and fewer than 10. Just recently I decided to pick up the hobby again. This time, I want to display them a little more creatively (ie. 1/18 scale garage) and go with much more accurately detailed, and specifically chosen models.
