"I have to admit I dont understand 1:43. 1:12 and larger I get, but most 1:43 I have seen (MOST) dont look like real cars. They are usually off in some way."

The worst that happens is that I might be spending too much time looking at my collection when I've got chores to do and she'll tell me off for that.

It's my mates that laugh or think my models are for kids etc.

It started with asking what this or that car that was driving on the road really was and has gone so far, that she attended the Spa Classic Festival on the Francorchamps Racetrack with me a couple of weeks ago. Now she even distincts alpinas from regular bmw M´s. As far as collecting is concerned, at the moment she goes along nicely with my plan but I already know I will want more models than I´ve planned so far but I think talking about the hobby really is important. One should not ignore the other one in a good going relationship.

Lately I the wife has calmed down towards the collection and the idea of collecting. But I think something is wrong with her. Maybe she is sick. I'm used to the fireie eyeballs of doom and fangs appearing when a box shows up on the bench. Something is not right in the force I fear.....
Not much since the wife controls me and the money and the 93 octane isn't cheap!

Haha, savage - and totally logical! I don't understand extravagant spending on consumables when instead you could be buying something to treasure for years - or going on a trip worth a lifetime of memories.
My girlfriend is not at all a car person and her attitude toward my collecting, as well as other hobbies like videogames, can only be described as tolerance - rolls her eyes every time I mention having ordered a new model. That said, she's super awesome in every other way so I'd say it's a case of "sometimes you just can't have everything" And anyway I spend a great deal of money on her as well, so at least she's supportive of my desire to have a man-cave so I can showcase my nerdiness with pride
As for all you folks with girlfriends/wives who actively feed your addiction - congratulations!
