My wife is a petrolhead and has bought me several models including most recently a Spark Dauer 962. So she is very supportive and actually makes my enjoyment of the hobby that much better. Others models I can recall off the top of my head include a Streetfighter twin turbo Camaro from GMP, Maisto 96 GS vette, 57 Chevy Hot Rod from Hot wheels, and Bbuargo Murcielago she bought in Italy!! Plus she helps me haggle over prices at trade shows, she is cute so the sellers always cave LOL!!

Wife finds it a total waste of money, pointless, and useless...:)

"I have to admit I dont understand 1:43. 1:12 and larger I get, but most 1:43 I have seen (MOST) dont look like real cars. They are usually off in some way."

She doesn't care, and has bought me some over the years as well. My other hobbies (and sometimes this one) far more than support my diecast collecting, so there's not much to complain about.

When I first met my wife I didn't collect model cars but knew I was interested in cars in general. It was only after our sons were born and they showed interest that I started too. I started with Hot Wheels 1:64s and then moved up to 1:18s. She is not terribly interested in looking at my collection, but she knows I love it and supports it. She will even go looking for Hot Wheels in the shops for me and tells me when the TVSN 1:18 collectable cars episodes are on TV. She actually collects quite a few of the Pixar cars toys and has a few other cute diecast cars eg minis, beetles, and cow themed cars in her own collection. She knows I am careful with what I spend, and I'm OK with her buying the clothes/shoes etc as long as she spends responsibly too.

The worst that happens is that I might be spending too much time looking at my collection when I've got chores to do and she'll tell me off for that.

Yea I want a man cave with my diecast vehicles and she strongly disapproves...she also says it's weird to obsess over them. I stay on eBay searching for rare things and unique vehicles

All my ex girlfreinds and any other girl I've had in my bedroom all love my cars. Usually they get drawn to my white Lexus LFA for some reason.
It's my mates that laugh or think my models are for kids etc.

My Girlfriend actually caught the bug with cars because of me.
It started with asking what this or that car that was driving on the road really was and has gone so far, that she attended the Spa Classic Festival on the Francorchamps Racetrack with me a couple of weeks ago. Now she even distincts alpinas from regular bmw M´s.  As far as collecting is concerned, at the moment she goes along nicely with my plan but I already know I will want more models than I´ve planned so far :nice:  but I think talking about the hobby really is important. One should not ignore the other one in a good going relationship.

I give you all permission to use my scape goat excuse next time you are confronted........IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE REASON BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I JUST CAN'T QUIT YOU!!!

Joking.

Lately I the wife has calmed down towards the collection and the idea of collecting. But I think something is wrong with her. Maybe she is sick. I'm used to the fireie eyeballs of doom and fangs appearing when a box shows up on the bench. Something is not right in the force I fear.....

Wife Finds them pointless and waiste of money. But being as I don't go out to pub and clubs (she does) it's a balance. My argument it I've got something to show for the money I spend rather than having a hangover for the money she spends 😂

Hmmm  this is a bit of a sore point in our house. I am effectively banned from buying models but I have ways of getting around this. I write review articles for The Diecast Magazine so all I have to say is that the box has a review sample in it.  I also work for the postal service so my driver just cards the items and I pick them up later. It just saves on the bickering.  She HAS however expressed her disgust by how full my storage room/man-cave is getting. I'm going to have to start selling models.

Haha, savage - and totally logical! I don't understand extravagant spending on consumables when instead you could be buying something to treasure for years - or going on a trip worth a lifetime of memories.

My girlfriend is not at all a car person and her attitude toward my collecting, as well as other hobbies like videogames, can only be described as tolerance - rolls her eyes every time I mention having ordered a new model.  That said, she's super awesome in every other way so I'd say it's a case of "sometimes you just can't have everything" :nice:  And anyway I spend a great deal of money on her as well, so at least she's supportive of my desire to have a man-cave so I can showcase my nerdiness with pride :occasion14:

As for all you folks with girlfriends/wives who actively feed your addiction - congratulations! :yahoo:
