Some of my friends enter new die casts in their home when her wife are not there, they got to hide theirs news die casts.

I think the lack of space and also the amount of money spend for something that is not essential are the problems for many wifes.

My wife totally encourages it! Keep in mind, I don't have thousands of die-casts all over the house... but, she honestly has an appreciation for this hobby! She even knows her automobiles. Most of all, she gets a big laugh out of several members of this forum, and she enjoys reading through the DX threads with me! Posted Image

She hates it even though she is a car fan. Alot of bill problems etc etc. SHE IS RIGHT. But todate I can not and do not want to stop. But like everything it will come to an end for lack of space first then money.

I know the wife is not a fan of models, but she does support me. I think she likes the detail of some of the nice models and she does not car about the history of a classic racer. The big thing is she does not want to know how much they cost. I just let her know when I get a great buy. Otherwise, money is not mentioned. To add, she helped me set up her camera and a background for taking photos. She also lets me display them all throughout the house. I five rooms with diecast within it. So, I would have to say she is very supportive, even if she does not like it.

My wife actually bought me my first model when we were going out. I had a picture of a yellow monaro on the wall of my room so she drove to the other side of the city bought a matching model.... which she severely regrets now! :icon_bs:

I think she sees it as part of a home deposit one day...  but she's been appreciating some of the exotics ive been buying. the v8supercar/aussie stuff she reckons all look the same. She thinks its weird though that im on forums and that i have forum friends... some of my best mates ive met on the forums... i went to top gear live with one of them last wk.

She reads baby forums though and that freaks me out :occasion14:

I can blame my wife for starting me on 1:43. She bought me my first one!

All I would have to say is how many jeans do you have? Conversation done.

My GF doesn't really mind my collection of diecasts and she does like looking at them (she's a sucker for aesthetics, as am I).  However, she's trying to get me to pace and if anything, go for more quality than quantity.  She's worried about the overflow of space and going for less, but better models will be better in the long run anyway.

She says she doesn't mind but I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I didn't either! So I guess I'm between 2 and 3..

My significant other absolutely despises it and constantly reminds me it is the biggest waste of money.  Oh well, some people will never understand.

"I have to admit I dont understand 1:43. 1:12 and larger I get, but most 1:43 I have seen (MOST) dont look like real cars. They are usually off in some way."

my other half doesnt mind most of the time, she even has her own collection but its nothing too serious (mostly VW's and F&F cars which shes trying to sell)
shes bought me quite a few nice ones too, AUTOart evo 8 and r35 gtr to name my favs

it can however be brought up in arguements, along the lines of "you cant take me out but you can spend £xxx on a toy car" lol

She has forbidden the purchase of any more models for me. Says the collection is too big and I am too broke. I said buying her an engagement ring made me broke, not collecting 1:18 scale cars.

So i sneak them in through work. She'll never know a thing...... :hope:

My girlfriend encourages me to buy diecast cars all the time.    She even attempts to give me money if we ever go to the hobby shop together sometimes.    As a matter of fact even if she has a good paying job, her parents still gives her allowance money.    Then she gives me half of what her parents gave,    but I don't want to spoil myself.   I don't take the money she gives me.    I know I'm an idiot for not taking the free money.
She likes my collection because she herself is in to cars preferably exotics and supercars.    She told me you collect your diecast cars while I collect my shoes and bags. Fair enough I guess!

That's my SOP - normally my wife doesn't notice a new addition, although when I plunked a Daimler DS420 next to my usual fare it got her attention...  hopefully my Paragon Silver Shadow will be inconspicuous next to it when it arrives...

Over the past year I have been collecting and managed to aquire about 22 models, I have learnt that if I TREAT HER RIGHT SHE WILL LEAVE ME ALONE!!! I had to learn that the hard way after few arguments. That along with the fact that I now buy to sell for a small profit ( so not all buys go to my collection) have been keeping out of the dark. So far...

I only have couple of more models to get and complete my collection and so I should be in good shape until the end of the road...
