Well make that 80 and 16 sold :) latest scores include 1/24 Franklin Mint Silver Ghost saloon, 1/18 HWE McQueen's Ferrari Lusso, Porsche 935 Coke Daytona 1971 by TSM and initial D project D. Life feels bliss :D

Just crossed the EUR500 mark per model, my most expensive purchase till date. Grabbed a holy grail, but still the dent in the wallet created a hole in the heart. Not feeling too excited somehow.

View it as money in the bank ready if you need to raise capital, that's how I can justify such an expensive hobby. Rarely do these things go down, usually up!
Every few years I sell my whole collection and we change our real car for the money they raise, often hundreds more than I initially shelled out.
Then I mourn as I look back and great models I ended up selling! But hey, can't have your cake and eat it!

ha ha Guiddy, you surely cracked me up. One prob is, fx rates and shipping rates make these models too expensive for most and hence often fetch low rates vs what the other markets can offer. For example, EUR 500 for a pullman in this case :D

isn't that ovepriced for what it is, like one of the comments above says it's a 200 euro model and no more. You have the regret of paying so much when it's not really worth that much. If you paid less than sure 200 euro is not that much to pay compared to 500 euro for something that isn't worth that. I don't want to ruin it for you, you can sell it to someone for more later (those kind of buyers are rare though)

Took out my AA1984 190E with #11, a car driven at the legendary 'Ring' at a legendary one off race by a young chap and beat 19 other F1 giants to win the race. Senna, you will be remembered.

I have seen many sites but feel Megamo does the justice in terms of capturing the details. The model pics there are awesome!

Hey, you are the one who got the dream job, isnt it? I remember seeing the Bugatti Tank which blew me out. Somehow forgot about your site. Sorry for that. The edge that i see in Megamo is the consistency of their pics in terms of angles and backdrops etc. The watermark is a killer though, can't steal. Heh heh.

And another plus point is the size... forgot to add that.

Yes I am the one with the dream job. And thank you for the Bugatti shots. As the site I shoot for is growing I'm used where the stock photography isn't good enough like with Spark or TSM. As they grow I'll be used for stuff like AutoArt hopefully where they have stock shots but they're rather dull.

Rant: hate it to find a model being 1/17 in reality! Now i know why the seller never mentioned the scale and I thought it is a 1.18 scale.

What model is that? How did you find out it is 1/17? Was it stated on the base of the car?

The MotorMax Ford Cruzers are like that, more like 1/20 scale. Once you buy one at a premium on eBay, and have it in your hands, what a great disappointment, and you cannot wait to get it out of your hands.

The MotorMax Ford SuperCruzers are 1/24 scale, and are marked as such, but they come in boxes similar in size to 1/18 boxes, which leads to seller confusion.

i have seen a topic here that details very well how paint rashes can be fixed by using hobby grade sand papers and some polish. can anyone share how to treat zinc pest? is it the same method of smoothening and polishing or does it require something else

Lol... saw that one. nope, am no where near that. Actually found a Kyosho dealer Beamer 7er silver with zinc pest on front and rear hood, rest all ok. Asking for USD45. Was thinking if anyway can be fixed. Anyways, will pass it for now. Thanks for the info mates, just love this site :D:D

I wound up with the silver CL63 and S63 because they were cheaper and more readily available than the black ones, probably for the reasons you guys mentioned. However, I think silver looks MUCH better on these models than others, since AUTOart put a LOT of details on these cars, and the black (real!) leather interior provides a nice contrast.
