Well as you will of guessed.... It turned up looking quite distressed.... I have emailed the seller, he assures me the model was brand new and un-opened.....AHEM.   The model is very far from new, I knew it was not new as soon as i opened the box, those square pieces of card that hold the shells together were not there and the Exoto paper around the model was completely shredded, uh oh !!!

Box opened to be greeted by this....

Posted Image

The rear wing cover has detached, The front ali splitter has come off... and the rear wing is broken.

Just when i thought it was not that bad, i flipped it over and noticed the front left wheel is seriously out of place.

I know some of you are thinking " oh just fix it "..... I sold models to pay for this.... Its cost me over £150 delivered from South Africa..... The seller tells me he is the Exoto reseller for his area..... Hmmmmm.  Just use some glue on it he told me!!

I am awaiting his response to a very strongly worded email.

Have any of you had any dealings with this guy?

I am not a happy chap

I would not be happy. Exoto's are very well made including the packaging. I have never had one arrive damaged. This is not right IMO. That looks like it is more than just damaged en route.

Jon... you are not wrong, i told him it looks like it has been dropped at some point!   Came from SA wrapped in the thinnest box, in fact i will tell you what it was wrapped in.... You know those white boxes that AUTOart crystal display cases come in? very thin cardboard, one of those, with one single piece of bubble wrap around it!!  and all the bloody bubbles had been popped.... Complete cheap skate packing job!!!... I am so pissed off!!

Yeah! I agree. That definitely looks like it has been mishandled before rather the damaged during shipping. Some of my CMC and Exoto came to me wrapped with just paper and they were 100% fine!

From experience, I can assure you that the front suspension cannot be fixed simply with glue.  Here are some pictures of my 935 front suspension disaster.  They are contained within an eBay auction, and this is not a solicitation to bid on this auction, or to encourage you to contact me about this auction.  I do not have these pictures on this computer, so this link is the best means to transmit the pictures for reference.

Ouch, some of that doesn't look an easy fix. Hopefully Ebay will cover you though.

I am sure some of you will agree this is very poor. Not one single bubble on that wrap even had air in it!  Not one packing chip used!!

If you are reading this Warren.... I hope you learn from this when it comes to posting models to fellow members of DX.

Wow, the seller has some nerve asking you to "use some glue" on a model that cost so much! Hope this ends in your favor soon Dave.

I am very sorry to see the damage this car has endured. There is no way that all could have happened due to shipping. It must have been like that before it left the seller. I hope you get your money back including the shipping back to the seller. Good luck with the rest of this mess :occasion14:

Thanks Gilles... i am currently in the middle of emailing back and forth with him.... Here is hoping we can reach a solution. Graeme thinks he can try and fix it for me. I hope so as i really like this model, as it will sit with 2 other Exoto 935's.
