Updates are on page 8 guys

I thought about showing here my collection for a while. I was a little intimidated by all those big guns over here. But I got over it. I love looking at all of your cars, so I think it’s normal I show you mine;) I would like to add that I can appreciate all cars, and scale collections more..

Affi is short for Aficionado. That means enthusiastic or fanatic (in a good way) in Spanish.
I am half Dutch/half Spanish and so my name is explained.

In my 36 years, I have had moments of collecting miniature cars. Early in my twenty’s it started again with Mercedes – Benz. I bought the models I drooled over in 1/1 or were historically important. Usually 1/18 but I’ve got in every scale a Mercedes-Benz, yes also in 1/1 (a ‘old’ W210 2.8 gasoline) ..
Of course I would have preferred CMC but Bburago / Maisto/Kyosho and so on it was.

Unfortunately, due to space limitations I have had to put a number of them in boxes safely in storage. I do not know how many cars my collection has (shame on me) but everything considered must be around a 100..
My model cars are definitely not all top-notch. But I 'm quite happy with it. Of course there are still a few Mercs around.

After the summer of 2013 I started building a 1 18 Mercedes-Benz diorama, and the 1 18 Virus got hold of me quickly again..

Recently my interest is gone in to Muscle and Pony cars, and American cars in general.
So I will post a few pics of former settings, and then go to my new found love American Muscle Cars. December 2013 I had 4 Muscle Cars. Now I have 24..
Due to work related issues (lack of), collecting has had to make an emergency stop.So I picked up my diorama making hobby..
I post a few of my Mercedes-Benz cars, former settings, dioramas and work myself to now okay guys!?
My pics aren’t great, but made with love;)

I start with arguably one of my gems of course..

"die Rote Sau" ( I've got 2 but the other one is savely put away)

In the corner of the picture above you see something very special to me.
My nephew, my private mechanic, and best friend once made for my Birthday, of a old Mercedes W123 grille a “showpiece” for some Mercs.. This has still a prominent place in my home.

The Merc and GMP garage diorama I made.
A few pics to see the progress maybe?

It started like this:)

Okey a lot of work and more corections later..

What is that mechanic reading?

Finally

Okey guys for now. With the Merc diorama I 'closed' my need for Mercedes-Benz for a while, and for now I have to stop also adding. Further on today I will continue with the American Muscle.. Thank You for your time!

Great diorama and a huge collection of Mercs.  That Rote Sau 300 SEL is one of the most interesting Mercs I've seen ... must read more about it.

You certainly have a very impressive display Affi, thanks for sharing all your pics, they are a delight! :occasion14:
Apart from your stunning one off custom MBgrille display... :drool5:    I really like your garage diorama pieces (inside and out !)  :10:

BTW is your mechnic with the cap and the note pad a custom?  I've not seen him anywhere else before.............. :dunno:

Stunning diorama - the SL Roadster on dollies is just wonderful; really captures a resto shop in full swing!

The grill display is lovely too :)

Wow :occasion14: Thanks guys!
Before I need to comment on all of your great remarks! than the US cars :nice:

First of all thanks for the lovely words guys! They are much appreciated :eusa_clap:
Coming from real collectors like you means a lot. Just returning the favor I suppose!

About the diorama, it works therapeutic for me.. Taking my mind of things, I can recommend it! I found out by accident that I had ‘talent’ for it. I never considered myself a ‘handyman’
But dedication, imagination, determination and a lot of free time (lost work), brought this end result. I knew nothing, that’s why I probably it took so much time. 3 months in total maybe 400 hours (!!) from going out and looking for stuff to getting the glass made.. Insane!
It is a ridiculous amount of time, the details take so much time, also there were things that took hours on doing but at the end did not make it ( I was planning a second floor for example).
But now I am a lot faster at it of course, I gave myself a crash course you can say.
1 18 is not that big, but sometimes it is;)
The dimensions of the diorama are:
Length 75 cm (29.5 inch)
Depth 40 cm (15.7 inch)
Height +/- 30 cm (11.8 inch)
So it isn’t so big. But it isn’t small also..
The Muscle Car “dream home garage” that is now in progress is faster done..

The W123 Grille is out of this world unique I realize that.. If there’s a fire at my home, (knock on wood) under one arm I get my 2 cats and under the other that grille :nice:
The Rote Sau 300 SEL is my favorite Mercedes of all time, and that says it all for me. I don’t know why, there are a lot more prettier, better, etc Mercs it just is. Minichamps did a great job of it also imho
The mechanic is stock (actually it is a Tow Truck Driver)  the only thing I added was a Playboy :yahoo:
American Diorama - Figures – AD 23794 : 1/18 Tow Truck Driver *Bill*

Okey My next comment will be The US cars..

Oh guys...

Since last december I started really interesting myself for die cast as such rather then a miniature model of a 1/1 car, does that make any sense? I hope you understand what I mean. I just love the old ERTL's bang for the buck. I just started 3 months hey;) and one a strict budget for now..
I have to thank Schuifelhoofd a lot because he was and still is my Muscle car mentor! Thanks man for your schooling!
Also Nelis has helped me with information, I am lucky to "know" those 2 great collectors

Firstly I would say you should not have any fear in showing your collection. We are a community of collectors, you can be guaranteed to find many people who share the same interests as yours whether it be muscle cars or budget models. Yes there are a lot of really nice expensive collections on here but I'd like to think we cater to anyone with the passion for cars :occasion14:
You have a very nice collection and an obvious talent for dioramas! It is simply amazing what you have built, and thank you for sharing it with us. We can really appreciate the time and thought process involved in creating something like that.
I look forward to seeing your muscle cars grow (in time) and thanks for your comments on my own collection :) I really appreciate it

Affi you have a great collection and I have to say I am truly amazed with the details in your diorama. I can imagine with that time on your hands you are at the mercy of your imagination hahaha - and it shows. Always know you and all collectors are welcome here and should never think the later.

Have to say out of all that '69 ZL1 is my favorite......got into a small bidding war two nights ago on that same model....I lost but one day. There is something about the '69 camaro that I find so.....sexy I guess. A perfect mix of power and size instead of massive gross weight and size.

Looking forward to seeing more and thank you for sharing! :occasion14:

A favorite!? Poeh I can't say I have a definitive favorite at all.. Life would be a lot simpler if I could choose a favorite.. The ZL1 is high up the ladder of course, to be completely honest I also love if the cars have massive gross weight and size :giggle: ..   Shame that the Highway 61 Zl1 Here are €150+ That for me is to much money.
Thanks for your comments!
