Hi there, I'm new here...
Just inherited a few GMP McLaren Can Am cars.
All have been lovingly cared for by their by the previous owner and came with their original boxes.
Now here is the question....
How was the high M8B wing shipped????
With the wing on and the model sitting in the bottom of the box in its black cocoon the lid of the box, the box upper part cannot be fully closed as the wing is proud of the box!!!!
Interesting too is that there is no clear plastic cover...
Was the M8B shipped with the wing off and the owner then had to complete assembly?

Many thanks if anyone can shed light on this as it just seems weird to me.....

Hi - I have one of these, it came with the wing detached. I think there was a plastic cover that went over the car, and the wing was stored in that.

That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up Adam. I guess there were also instructions on how it was mounted.... these must be missing too.

Have six McLarens. Two M8A's (Bruce and Denny) Three M8B's (Bruce, Denny and Dan Gurney). A M8D (Dan).

Again thanks for the help and promptness of an answer :)

Welcome to DX, swift, and nice collection! I have the same as you except Bruce and Denny's M8Bs - I always felt it was enough to have Dan's (he's my favorite driver all-time) but now that I'm building a thread here on Can-Am and other sprint sports racing cars in diecast and that we want in diecast, I'm beginning to think that was an error.

Take a look at that growing thread (and at my collection below my signature) and feel free to contribute pics, stories, etc.!
