I think the mercedes SLC race car would be a dream model by CMC! They already have the mold of the street car! I know the resin is good but it would never be as good as a die cast!

The mold was for the cabrio. Not the same.

Wouldn't say no to that one. . . I think it would be good if CMC could do all Bugattis up to 101.

I would love a cmc dbr1, clearly there's no licensing barrier following their db4.

Maserati 450s would be great, and I'd appreciate some repaints of the 300s.

As much as I'd love a 917 from them, cmc tend to stick to mid sixties or before.

A BRM v16 would be a very interesting model.

I am 1000% for that but would take a lifetime and a big mortgage.

This is probably not the correct thread, but CMC may soon have major competition for their series from BBR. IF they can keep retail prices close to existing levels. You may need access to an online translator.

BBR will probably be in a slightly higher price bracket and will also most likely avoid the same type of subjects as cmc and go for more modern offerings instead, as they won't want to risk going head to head with cmc on a model and dilute sales.

Seconded on the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Competizione and the 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB. They look stunning in full race livery! Please please CMC make these more modern Ferrari racers, we know you have the loophole which allows you to do so. But if that means you won't include all the sponsor logos and proper Ferrari emblems, forget about it! Motorsports models lose all authenticity when they don't have the full livery represented.

All cars are beautiful but unfortunately it's only a wishful thinking. CMC already said a few years ago that they will only publish cars as far as late 60es.

Good, so 250 LM, 250 GT Lusso and 275 GTB all qualify! :)) And they would all sell well.

You are a a man after my own heart, Uzair :occasion14:! I'm trying to remember who was the DX'er when I first joined who would buy racing cars and then...I can barely get the words out...remove their liveries <shudder>. BLASPHEMY!

If CMC has a cut-off date of 1969 I might suggest:

The original Porsche 917 - despite being under-developed and frightening to drive, one qualified on pole for the 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Vic Elford/Dickie Attwood #12 teammate led for 17 hours until put out by clutch issues with three hours to go:

Posted ImagePosted Image

Also noteworthy was that, though the CSI had banned movable aero devices after the Lotus debacle in the Spanish Grand Prix that year, the 917 was designed with movable rear tail flaps. Rolf Stommelen had qualified the #12 at a record pole speed of 3:22.9 but with the flaps fixed per the ruling, he could only do 3:30 and the car was a terror to drive. Officials allowed Porsche to run the 917 with the movable flaps but the long-tailed 908s had to have their movable flaps fixed. This would be a great detail to show on the model.

I'd also love to see a one of the classic F1 cars of the 1.5 liter era, the BRM P261, arguably the second best car of the entire formula. As driven for the factory by Graham Hill, Richie Ginther, Jackie Stewart, and Mike Spence from 1964 through 1967, it continued in 2-liter form during the 3-liter formula when the trouble-plagued BRM 3-liter H-16 engine was either unavailable or unsuited to the circuit. It was driven to six grand prix wins, taking the Monaco Grand Prix three years in a row and the U.S. Grand Prix twice consecutively. It also was the car in which Sir Jackie Stewart won his first Grand Prix.

(Left) Graham Hill leads teammate Jackie Stewart in their BRM P261s on his way to his 3rd straight victory (2nd straight in a P261) in the Monaco GP in 1965. (Right) The order is reversed later in the season as Stewart would lead Hill to the checkered flag in the Italian Grand Prix for his first-ever GP win, in a race that featured a record 42 lead changes among those two, Jim Clark's Lotus and John Surtees' Ferrari.

Jackie Stewart in his 2-liter BRM P261 during practice for the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix, which he won, the fourth straight BRM win in the race, 3rd straight for the P261. You can see the unique Kamm-style tail of the P261.

The 2-liter version of the car also was entered in the post-season Tasman Series, an open-wheel championship for 2.5-liter cars in New Zealand and Australia, driven by Stewart, Hill and Attwood. In 1966 Stewart and Hill finished 1-2 in the series, while in 1967 Stewart and Attwood ended up 2-5 behind champion Jim Clark in his ex-F1 Lotus 33-Climax.

Thanks Red, we are indeed brothers in arms when it comes to our passion and love for motorsports models, especially from the vintage era. This is purely a matter of subjective taste, but I find plain-bodied models without any racing graphics to be bland and boring. A nice livery makes the car come alive, but it has to be a good livery. In my opinion some of the nicest liveries are from the 1960s, with a uniform paint scheme dotted with a few small-sized sponsor logos.

I like your suggestions for the Porsche 917 and the BRM P261. I myself have often asked here in this topic and elsewhere for F1 cars from the 1960s and early 1970s. I just looove the velocity stacks and especially the exhaust bundles of the cars from this era. There is such a rich number of cars to choose from, CMC can't go wrong with any Ferrari or Lotus for example. We also need the full Ferrari "P" cars roster in high quality full opening diecast format; GMP have done great 330 P4 / 412 P and the 312 PB, but we are missing the 512S, 512M, and the 712 Can Am.

Sadly I don't think we'll be seeing any of these any time soon :bawling:

And lol at what you say about the guy who said he would strip off the liveries off racing models to convert into street models. Blasphemy indeed! :giggle:
