Round 1 –My Mazda Collection

Hey all will add to this as time goes on.  Starting off with my lil Mazda collection

The first 3 Miata are all total resprays in and out.  The last two are virtually original (the the 1999 LE miata/MX-5 got some flocking inside for carpet and a few other minor detail bits.  I want more Mazda models, but they are fairly pricey in the U.S since most seem to come from Taiwan & China.  I currently drive a 2010 Mazdaspeed3/MPS and it is my 3rd Mazda.  Anyhow, hope you like!

Round 2 –My Porsche Collection
Here are the favorites of my collection – The 911.  With the exception of one vehicle (the UT 993 Turbo) all of these cars have been completely redone inside and out.  Yes, I am the first to admit I am OCD when it comes to creating color families within my collections.  I basically love to see the transformation of models over time in the same color or shade…creates a fantastic visual display throughout my house as well.  Anyhow, hope you enjoy some of my creations

Another One-Off project.  Porsche never actually produced a 993 Turbo Cabriolet.

Second One-off project of a 911; however, Porsche did create 6 factory built examples of the 911 Tubro Cabriolet in the 964.

This is the Welly FX version of the 991 Carrera S Coupe.  One of my favorite projects because I created the functional sunroof on it.

Excellant collection of Porsches. There are many I wouldn't mind having part of my collection. And great diorama. The setting is nice for the Porsches. All around, well done

well thanks again.  the diorama is made of carboard, balsa wood and cardstock paper in different pattern.  I didnt have a good spot to photograph my collection, so that's where the diorama came into play.  It was fun making it but I still have more to do to the inside of it.

Welcome! I have a soft spot for the 1/1 Mazda MP-line..
Do you paint the cars yourself? They look factory :drool5: Pretty clever to have the Porsches in the same colour :10:
Diorama is ultra-cool.

Thanks everyone for all the great compliments!  I have been a car nut since i can remember.  All of the resprays and such are done by me.   I think i kinda fell in love with doing theme colors because there is just something about seeing model year changes in groupings that really set the cars off well.  I know to some it may get a bit boring seeing all the same color but for me, it never gets old.  As for the dark grey on the boxsters, they were all black at one point.  When I saw the Minichamps Cayman in Agate grey, i decided to do the Boxsters in a similar shade.  I have a first gen Cayman and want the Minichamps one....but waiting to see if i can find one at a good price.

Its actually adjustable.  At its largest, the "inner garage is 3ft wide by 3ft deep.  Outside can be made as small or large as I like.  The "closed side Garages" are just two cardboard boxes with garage door facias I sized and printed out.  The original version for the courtyard was cardstock paper I taped together and measured 3ft X 3Ft.  I switched to ceramic floor tiles though in recent photoshoots as I had a some leftovers from a real house project I did a few months back.  Right now, because I have family coming for the holidays, the "inner garage diorama cube has been collapsed to 3ft wide by 1 1/2ft deep and slides under some counter space in one of my spare rooms (see Picture).  I want to get a better camera but right now, every pic I've taken has been with my Iphone 6.

And thanks mkhabbaz & E34AG for the compliments!

Round 3 –The Mercedes Collection
Next up is my Mercedes collection.  It is just as expansive
as the Porsche collection but has a bit more variety.

AMG S CLASS SEDANS
The sedans all have modified/lowered suspensions.  I also have a post in the custom build
section about the W140/W220/W222.  The Autoart W221 has a functional sunroof.

Posted Image

Posted Image

AMG S CLASS/CL COUPES
In this grouping, the mods run from very mild (wheels, suspensions, and functional sunroofs on the Autoart CL55 & CL63)
to a full on scratch build on the Majorette S600Coupe made to represent an AMG version of the car.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image
This is the most customized one in this grouping.  I bought the Majorette S600 coupe at a garage sale and it was completely
trashed.  The body kit was modified from an Autoart  Lorenser CL that I bought on Ebay(it had been dropped and was broken)
Lastly, the wheels are resin cast replicas I made.  As the actual diecast is not a very well made design to begin with
(terrible shutlines, bad headlights, and such), I am still happy the way it turned out.  She looks good posing
with her sisters at least!

SL63 AMG’s

Posted Image

Posted Image
One of my favorite diecasts- Originial Release AbsoluteHot SL63AMG. The fully functional roof and level of detail on this diecast is
amazing.  To boot, I got it at a really great price compared to what I currently see them selling for, if you can find them in silver.

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Posted Image
Custom set of AMG Wheels I made, lowered suspension, fully flocked and detailed interior, & body respray

Posted Image
Suspension lowered and a set of AMG Hammers from the F1 Safety car.

AMG SL’s & SLS’s

Posted Image

SL65 AMG’s
These are some of my favorite repaints as I love pearl white.  This all started when I visited a Coffee & Cars held last summer
in Houston.  There were two SL65AMGs parked side by side – a brand new convertible and a custom painted Black series.
The two diecasts are direct representations of what I saw that day, right down to the black roofs and grey wheels.
With that, I also decided to build two other versions in previous body styles.  Virtually same mods done to all-full strip
down and resprays, interiors detailed out and the two older versions have the modern AMG style rims added to them.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

SLS AMG Coupe & Roadster
Another pair that I thoroughly enjoy having in my collection.  The Coupe is actually the Maisto release.  It has been completely redone
from top to bottom.  The Roadster is the recent Norev release.  I lowered the suspension and changed the interior color from tan to red.

C Klass SportCoupe

One of my older cars and set to be redone in the near future(paint bothers me on this one as do the mirrors. It has a set
of custom wheels I found at a garage sale and I also created a functional sliding panoramic roof on this one as well.

Great Mazdas...I've been looking for that 10AE NB for quite a while.  The NB is still my favorite gen.

I had a Mazda6s Hatch that I loved before my Jeep & had quite a few friends that had 3's (one a 1st gen MS3) or 6's.

Thanks Gavin!  The 10AE is a hard one to find nowadays!  I see other colors/versions on ebay from time to time, but the prices for them is absolutely insane (especially considering it was originally a $20 dollar model.  I really want to get a couple more NB's and turn one into the 2001 SE and modify the other one into a Lava Orange 2004/05 Mazdspeed MX-5.  I also want to buy some NA's as well and turn them into the various year "M Editions".

As far as the Speed3 I currently drive, it is an absolute BLAST as a daily driver!!!  However, even though the miata only had 118HP, nothing I've ever driven on twisty California mountain roads has ever compared to it (including the BMW I had and my friend's porshe 928).   The car just hugged curves so well and I could drive the crap out of it on the twisties!!!!

Round 4 –Misc. Vehicles Collection
These are my oddballs.  Most are just cars I’ve always liked and that’s why they have stayed in my collection.

VW Eos & Volvo C70
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image
The Eos began life in a strange shade of blue.  I decided I wanted to create a 1 off GTi version.  Interior stayed the same,
outside painted anthracite grey and put on a set of Porsche GT3 wheels.

Posted Image

Posted Image
The Volvo was originally a bright solid red and I hated it.  Just as with the Eos, the interior remained the same; the outside
got a shade of Mahogony pearl.

Bentley Continental Supersport Coupe and Convertible
The Coupe is, in my opinion, one of Welly's best diecasts to date.  The Convertible is the Maisto/Bburago unit.
I chose the version with the convertible top up, and converted the boot so that the top could be displayed both
on and off the car.  The coupe began life black....the convertible started life silver.  I love to do some of my cars
in unexpected colors, hence the two shades of brown.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

TVR Tuscan S
An oldie but a goodie.  I’ve had this for years and it was the color of the car that really made me want it.
Only mod I made was flocking for carpet.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Corvette
These are my pair of Maisto Corvettes that are currently done.  I have a few others in
various stages of reworking at the moment.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Lamborghini Murcielago & Gallardo
The  only unmodified car in this group is the Autoart Gallardo hardtop.  The Maisto Gallardo & Murcielago Roadster
is a complete redo(pearl white).  The Murc also has Lorinser rims from the wrecked Autoart CL500 I parted out.
Lastly, the Murcielago hartop has flocked and detailed out interior and now rides on a set of SRT Viper wheels
I cast in resin.
