I have been tracking a parcel I sent back to a seller in Italy from US through usps. The last update is "customs clearance" since last Wednesday 2/25/2015 and no further updates...does this sound like something went wrong? Has anyone here sent stuff to Italy from the US?

Customs is moving really slowly. I think because world events, they are actually checking every package. My incoming packages have been arriving about two weeks after the update "customs clearance". All of them through DHL have been opened and inspected.

^thats right. Customs are slow. Also keep in mind that USPS update system is not working quite well, or it is not acurate. Your package might have passed Customs and when u track your package it may still say "Customs Clearance". Just be patient before you start worrying!

There is a huge mess on the west coast port with several large container ships being stuck, almost at a stand still. I am pretty sure that US customs has their hands full there so it makes sense that delays to smaller parcels might occur

I checked with usps and they said the parcel has been cleared out of Customs since 2/25/2015. Doesn't it sound weird that it took more than a week since customs clearance and still not delivered?

Hi,

The damaged model that I sent back to Italy for replair has been taken 12 days since Customs clearance. I am so frustrated and anxiously waiting for new updates of my parcel but the last updates I got was "customs clearance" and it was confirm by usps it has been cleared by customs in Italy on 2/25/2015.

I filed a case with the post office to investigate where it is and at the same time I also sent an inquiry to the seller(alpimodel.com) in Italy about the delay. He does not reply. Isn't it theres something the seller can do like calling the postal office in Italy?
What else can I do?! Thanks for reading...

Sometimes if a scan is missed at any point, you won't see an update until the local post facility received the package.

But it says "customs clearance" since the 25th of February which has been 13 days. Isn't it should have been delivered long time ago? My understanding is after customs clearance it will go to the post office to be delivered in 2-3 days, right?

I called and talked to someone from usps they said some reatriction with Italian customs not allowing toys that are not made of wood to be in their country. I dont know if this is true. They said if its rejected and being sent bck to me then the the shipping i paid is not covered..i have to eat it omg. What doesnot make sense is if the seller can send it to me then why are they restricted to be entered to their country?

Just a general question. Has anyone shipped model cars to Italy before? I have read under usps shipping to Italy. it says prohibits "toys that are not wholly made of wood". Can someone please explain to me if this applies to our hobby/model cars? I do not get it if the seller can ship it to me in Italy and marked as "model car" on the customs shipping label, then I dont see why they restricted.

1. It's not a toy, it's a collector's item.

2. It originates from Italy

Why should they send it back to, if it came from there in the first place?   :dunno:

Di you tell them it's a return-shipping?

Yes checked off the box on the customs form where it says "returned goods".

The usps person just read it off a site on usps regarding regulations and restrictions of mailing to Italy. So I dont think its necessarily apply to me. She was saying i could probably be one of the reasons. But I dont think so. Do they take over two weeks to clear parcels sometimes? This is the first time I am experiencing this so I am very worried especially I paid a lot to get it shipped there...
