Good evening everybody,
a few days ago I saw by chance a Ferrari 246 Dino by Exoto and got sold on the spot, today I've bought two cars off eBay from Casabattiloro only to discover later on,as Murphy's Law would have had it,that behind this eBay account there was Tony K.
I've become aware of the issues many Exoto customers have experienced dealing with him either on the Exoto official site or by purchasing from his eban alter-ego by reading about that on
this forum.
I've bought a 159"Alfetta"and a 246 Dino paying less than I'd have paid by getting them from any European seller,I had read the feedbacks before committing  and I had felt rather confident because it seemed like he's finally started to behave himself, yet  what I have read here has planted  a seed of doubt in mind! Some say that Exoto uses Casabattiloro to sell repaired, used or faulty models but since both eBay and PayPal offer some sort of protection that sounds like a suicidal move given he has given himself at least until 2012, not taking into consideration the precious advice that can be easily obtained by more experienced members here!
The point is;has anybody here dealt with Casabattiloro recently?I'd love to know!
Me,I'll call PayPal tomorrow and ask them what I'd be supposed to do in case I'd buy a faulty item that was advertised or described as MIB while on fact it isn't !
Thank you for reading
Cheers

Exoto makes some truly exceptional pieces, but you must be willing to buy at your own risk when doing business with them. It is a well-known fact that Exoto uses several aliases on eBay to sell their products... whether or not the models being sold at these various outlets are new or refurbished is anyone's guess. :twocents:

I would recommend that you consider giving CMC business instead, as they are a reputable manufacturer of extraordinary models!

Thanks a lot for chiming in,Matt!I'll post my two cars as soon as I'll open the boxes...fingers and toes crossed!
I've got the jitters but I'll think about crossing that bridge when I'll come to it!

I've just called PayPal and told them that I may have  problems with two eBay transactions any time soon, the lady I've spoken with has told me that in case the cars aren't as described they'll fill a case and the money I've transfered is "seized" for two weeks anyway!I sell on eBay and I know it'strue,i get the money on my PP account two weeks after the sale!
Cheers

Ah, that clears that up. This eBay seller was trying to sell a "Tony K signed" model for mega-bucks. He also has unique one-off Exotos for expensive sale. Now it all makes sense...

I bought a Porsche 910 and an XJR-9 from exoto1, which was what they called themselves on ebay back in the day. Both came with flaws. The 910 had an obvious paint blemish. The XJR-9 a crooked engine cover on one side.

When I bought a corvette directly from Exoto's website, it came with heavy paint blistering on the hood. So I kinda got the impression that ebay and sale items are all defective somehow.

My 159 Alfetta from one of their places came flawed. I sent it back. I did get an XJ-R9 Le Mans winner from the same seller though & that one was flawless (I got the Jaguar first)

Did you remember about customs taxes? It will be a big hit to your walled when the models arrive, at the very least you'll pay 20% of the total (models + shipping) value...

You'r correct Rafael, but he agreed to declare a lower value! Is not against the law here in Italy because the Italian Customs apply fees to items that shouldn't be taxed in the first place, like DVDs,books,records,toys,MODELS.......
It's against the law in most of the USoA but not if you're an "individual" selling thru eBay for example. If Rafael who owns the General Motors sends me a Mustang  declaring a lower value then he's risking big time, but if the same Rafael who sells privately thru eBay sells me his favourite model  worth a grand and declares that's worth a tenner there's nothing wrong with that. It'll be up to the Customs to ask me how much is the model worth,I'll tell them that it's worth ten Euros and they'll apply a 10/20% taxes over 40 Euros!
Ciao

You're lucky, here in Portugal they take everything you have and what you don't have...once they didn't even accept my paypal bill because it didn't have the individual cost of shipping declared, so they just didn't let me have the model. Whenever they suspect the value is higher they just hold the package until you show them some proof they makes them believe it's the real value, or they just go on ebay and check the prices...and if the total value of model cost + shipping is over 150€ you get charged 35% of that value :mad2:

Lol, exactly, I actually think it ruins the model. Maybe it values after he dies...

Hi, i bought two cars from his ebay site. Am more comfident buying off Ebay than from the Exoto website, mainly due to Paypal.
Received one car within a week after buying, second one should arrive soon too.
Prices are better than from their website anyway, so its worth a shot if you ask me.
Problem is paintrash, most of the Ferrari models have it im various degrees, but what to do!

I think Exoto has a second ebay account, called minosh13. They were both based in cali, so I googled how far woodland hills is from calabasas, and guess what, 9 minute driving distance! The only difference, as far as I can tell, is that the minosh13 account allows best offers. I'd still much rather buy through ebay, as at least I'm covered that way (although if you pay using paypal through Exoto, you're also covered), so I will check it out. The shipping price to Canada is $78!!! Translates to $100 cdn. I can ship three 1/18 models to the states for that money. I messaged them so we'll see what happens. If all goes well, I'm putting it an offer for the d-type.

Posted on the wrong topic. My bad, didn't mind to properly search casadibattiloro. I want to buy a Jaguar for a friend from their ebay page. The price is very tempting. Should I risk or not? Any recent experience with them?

Any transaction with Tony has a higher chance of ending in frustration. NEVER PRE ORDER anything from EXOTO. Make sure the item is in stock and have him send you pics of the model being shipped being unpacked and inspected. Otherwise dust off your feet and move on the next item on list.
