Welcome to my collection, I hope you enjoy what you see. I'm always trying new things with photography and am open to constructive criticism. If you have any questions regarding the models you see on these pages, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'll start with the latest set of photos I took last night. All are:
- 1/18 by MINICHAMPS
- made of resin
- limited to 999 pieces
- from the series "American Dream Cars"

Wow you have them all I believe! That must be a site to have them all together, these would be really cool if they opened up and stuff, although I do not know if all of these were even operational?

Yes, so far I should have them all. They do look great all together, although I don't have the space to have them on display right now. Would be cool to create something like a mid '50s car show and have them on round tables :)
No, some of these cars were not operational; they sometimes had full-size mock-up engines in them though!

You're right, they don't run cheap at all... But once I started I had to have them all :)

I think so too, "work of art" puts it very nicely.

I personally don't see any problem with resin. Sure, you can't open them up. But: you couldn't do so on some of the actual dream cars, either :) For instance, the red Buick Centurion: it didn't even have a trunk floor! Or the 1954 Chevrolet Corvair (basically a Corvette C1 coupe - a model I hope MINICHAMPS will also produce), the trunk was a scribed outline only. But the detailing on these resin models is very, very good.

That's a tough one... To me, I really like the Lincoln Futura (which was later customised by George Barris to become the Batmobile), the Cadillac Le Mans and the Cadillac Cyclone. But then also the Buick Le Sabre, which was the first of them all. Difficult... Just don't ask me to chose only one :D

For all of you who are interested in these cars (except for the Lincoln, as it's not a GM car), I can recommend the following book:

Posted Image

It's very well written and full of interesting details on these dream cars.

Regarding my next MINICHAMPS models, the Chrylser Norseman concept should be released soon - can't wait! Interestingly enough, MINICHAMPS seems to release some variants of the above models, i.e. different colors that I don't think existed. For example: they will release a black Cadillac Cyclone. Actually, before it was painted silver as above, it was white and had bigger fins. Why don't they produce that version? No idea... Also, I don't know if they will be limited.

I'm kind of the resident engine fanatic haha, although to be fair, most of these cars had pretty standard engines borrowed from other cars.

That is a cool lineup of concept cars.  I didn't recognize the Batmodile until you mentioned it.

Did you take the pictures?  If so, you did a great job.  They look like pictures from the manufacturers!

I fully understand. When I think of that yellow Jaguar D-type from Exoto that another member from this forum showed in many photos, that's just gorgeous detailing on the engine bay and the rest of the car. You're right, most of these cars were non-functional (even the gauges were fake), but some of them, like the Le Sabre, were equipped with incredible engines and cool functions. The Le Sabre, for instance, had a sensor that closed the top automatically when it felt raindrops. 1951!! The red Centurion had a backup camera. 1956!! The goal of these cars was to amaze the visitors at the GM MOTORAMA shows (except for the Lincoln, of course) and show them what the future could be like. They not only displayed cars, but also frigidaires for instance, and other products from GM's affiliated companies.

I know, that would be awesome. But I think it would be easier to create it in a 1/43 scale (all these models are also available in 1/43), as it would be enormous in 1/18. Unfortunately, I have never done anything like it and am not known to be a "talented craftsman" But we'll see, I have a few ideas :nice:

Yes, I took all the photos. That's quite a compliment, thank you very much :nice:  Actually, each of the above photos consists of two photos: the setting was as is seen, but the text of the box reflected on the hood of the cars, which I didn't like. So I took a photo of the car and one of the box and combined them. Then I reduced the opacity of the windscreens to create the "see through" effect. It's not perfect when you look at it very closely, but good enough in that size :nice:

The American Dream Cars Collection is just awesome! I've seen several in real life, and they just look incredible amazing!
Knowing the prices over here, i know how much this collection is worth, not mentioning the trouble of getting them all!  :danke:
Is the series complete now? Or are there more models?

I too have the Wagoneer (same color) and Airstream combo. They are a match made in heaven!
Your Airstream is a new release, no? The white wall tires are only on the latest release i thought.
And thumbs up on the photo's, they're excellent  :10:

I envy you for having seen some of them live, unfortunately I never had the chance to as of today. I know some of them were displayed in in a museum in Atlanta one or two years ago. Would have loved to go and see them.
As for now, I guess the series is complete. However, MINICHAMPS announced the Chrysler Norseman for August. Even though I don't know if it's going to be in the American Dream Cars series, Ill try to get it - it's the same era, so it'll fit with the rest of the collection.
Yes, the Grand Wagoneer and Airstream combo is one for the ages :occasion14: I got my Airstream in the beginning of this year, so yeah I assume it's one of the latest releases. I wonder why it doesn't say Airstream on it anywhere. Might be a legal issue?
Glad you like the photos, thank you very much. There's more to come :nice:

Thank you. I know, there's not much to get if you're into these cars. TrueScale made the GM Firebird I concept in 1/18, which I also have. Hopefully they'll do versions II and III of that concept one day. Otherwise, there are a couple of 1/43 versions, but none other in 1/18 that I'm aware of.

Yeah, I actually think so too. From all the AUTOart cars I own, it's probably the coolest and the last one I'd ever sell. If I ever get the chance to buy a white Grand Wagoneer for a decent price, I probably couldn't resist.

Autoart has made a great effort, and makes a stunning model of this iconic Caddy.
