I collect mostly 1/43 scale. I started 20 years ago with 1/18 scale cars but after awhile I had no more room to display or to store them. I sold most of them and kept a few that I couldn't bear to part with. I found 1/43 cars to be an excellent replacement, my enthusiasm for them was exactly the same that I had for 1/18s. Some are way cool, some are simply awesome, some very good and some quite toyish, but the same could be said about other scales.

To each their own... Right?

I have gotten lazy due to it being lonely around here recently but I will post some of my cars soon to help keep it alive. In other words don't give up on the lack of posts, people are enjoying your cars!

I know what you mean, the smaller scale section of the forum is hardly supported. I end up posting and discussing all things 1:43 elsewhere. It's simply because there's next to no interaction for small scale collectors on this forum, and alot of collectors on the forum brandish 1:43 as lacking detail and crude toys, a shame really.

I find it funny because 1/18 tend to have rolling wheels, and they are the size I did quite a bit of playing with as a kid. Unfortunately 1/43 is seen as matchbox by a lot of people. The real difference I see is 1/18 you are more likely to find a cheapo model that still looks decent, where as 1/43 nope. Also 1/18 collection is going to hog more space than is realistic to display them unless you have a wing to devote.  I Feel like the 1/43 is much less of a toy vs. 1/18  bc the lack of rolling wheels on most, general delicate nature that doesn't vibe with handling them and the fact of how much more difficult to make the same shape and details pop on a car that is so tiny in comparison, the high skill to make this makes it less of a toy imo when you think about it philosophically, it's incredible art.

Where else do you go for 1/43?

Another photo from my collection

#40 Porsche 935, Martini Racing.
Race: Le Mans 1976
Class/Group: Group 5
Grid Position: 3rd
Race Position: 4th
Drivers: M Schurti, W Stommelen
Model: Make Up / Eidolon

With this one i would have preferred Make Up to have modelled this car with the black wheel covers fitted, like Ebbro have done. It's still a superb model, but just seems to be missing something without the covers.

thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated :occasion14:

my next car is a model of the practice and qualifying car, not the race version. I really like this model and the bright blue wheels really set it off. I hope to add the #21 330 P4 from the same race at some point, but they're as rare as hens teeth. I've been looking for one for almost a year and never seen one come up for sale anywhere.

Oh wow Stu, I LOVE the NART white+blue stripe and blue wheeled 412P!! This doesn't look like 1/43 at all, it looks like a very good resin 1/18 model :10:

Very nice Stu. Although I wonder why on the Wollek car the decals look cut over panel gaps, while on this one they are not. What is the price difference between Vision and Eidolon?

All i can assume is the Kenwood 956 is an older release by Make Up / Vision while the Vaillant 934 is a newer release. Other Vision models in my collection have the panel gaps where the logo crosses over a door for instance. If you check out the 1970 Le Mans winning 917 further up the page for instance, that is also a Vision model and has panel gapped logos. As for the price difference between Vision and Eidolon, it can vary but usually around 15 to 40 Euro difference.

That looks awesome!! :drool5:  The decal gaps look really nice, I hate resin models that use one piece decals so the panel gaps don't look right.

it certainly begs the question, if this can be done in 1:43 then why not in 1:18
