I am relying on a pretty darn good source here and I am happy to announce that the Highway 61 Molds and toolings have been acquired by Acme/GMP!!!!! :drool5: :eusa_clap: :danke:  :yahoo:

This has long been rumored but it is now looking like a done deal. This is so awesome I am so happy for fellow collectors to have the chance to buy these incredible models for hopefully fair prices at MSRP rather than hiked up ebay prices on the secondary market.

This is also incredible news for our friendly diecast sellers/dealers. I will be happy to once again plunk down my hard earned for some of the finest muscle cars and american automobilia ever built to scale! And who knows maybe the little red wagon project will go through now!

I needed this after watching my Cubbies get beat up on all week!

Here is the press release

“We are very excited about this as these are some quality molds that have been dormant for many years but still have plenty of potential.
This is quite an undertaking, considering the number of molds that HWY built, but we are up to the task. To avoid any QC issues, we are opening all the molds one by one and cleaning, restoring, polishing, etc… before we proceed with any production. We will also be making a complete change/upgrade to the packaging. Each release will come branded as an Acme model and will be packaged in a sealed box with a styrofoam clamshell, just like all other Acme models.
Please feel free to submit any ideas and thoughts for cars that you want to see done from these tools. With your input and Acme’s design touch; we know that this will breathe some fresh air into the hobby!
The first mold that we have opened and prepared for production is the 1970-71 Plymouth Cuda. We are pleased to inform you that Supercars will be doing a split color run of Ronnie Sox’s and Buddy Martin’s personal Cuda street cars. These cars will be arriving in early December.”

Apparently some releases could be out early next year, and these Sox and Martin Cudas this December!

That's cool. But the supercars ones were asking 140$ a piece. I'm excited but I hate that I feel that these will be over $90 a pop...

I am with you.... It seems that €150 will be the new standard, and I don't know if I am able to pay those prices for a regular model.. But I am happy for the people who can. This is ridiculously good news..

Look at what Highway 61 made though :drool5: ..

http://www.scale18.c...RY&t=highway 61

Okey which models HW61 made, we need, thinking of the €150 pricetag!!??

Would you pay $140 up for:

Their 1 16 Trucks? Yes
Hudson Hornet? No
Chevy Vans? Yes
Mopars? No

I can find HW61 models for around $130 overhere, and people don't buy them..

Great news yes, but at those prices not a lot of people would buy them I believe..

Are there 1500+ people that would buy every single HW61 model out there for $140+? The sweet spot for HW61 models is around $100 I believe..

How much was the original HW61 price?

Thanks for sharing this news Josh

I don't think Highway 61 ever did any Ferrari's, and not many Corvettes.

Highway 61 models upon release were about 50-70 dollars.

GMP Roadrunners upon release were 130 dollars I specifically remember buying the Streetfighter X and blue Hemi Convertible Roadrunner for $125 each.

The newly released GMP Corporate Blue RR is selling for $160-$170 SO assuming the same percent of price increase I am hoping that Highway 61/GMP/Acme models are in the $80-$90 range.

I agree that at 100 dollars or more Highway 61 molds/toolings lose their appeal and become overpriced.

I am at least happy for those who will not have to pay 200 on Ebay anymore and the dealers who need something other than Acme/Autoworld models to sell over here in the states. Those guys are friends of mine, and if it is good for them it is good for the hobby!
