I unboxed my silver one before, And my god, What were they thinking with that Porsche badge on the front??? Was the 1.1 badge like this. I am very tempted to remove it and just add my own decal badge.

If you can remove it without damaging something you can just sand it down from the other side to make it thinner and than glue it back. It looks quite bad in the photos, hard to believe how did they even end up with it since the badge is perfect on their 930's and 964. Why did they make a new badge for 993, who knows!

I don't understand why the OP bought three (ok they are all different colours) but surely if it's as bad you say it is, surely you'd just keep one & send the other two back ? or return them all ?
The more I look at the bonnet badge, the more I see just how out of scale it is. I don't get why they did that :dunno:

By the way, I've done the same myself in the past (gone a bought a model in every colour there is) then I've realised that I should have bought other stuff instead, so I kept one & sold the others.

Unfortunately, I live in country where returns aren't easy and have to special order any models that aren't popular. I usually end up ordering from CK or Modelissimo but I was actually able to pre-order the 993s at a much lower price with my distributor because I bought 3(+1). That's why I rely on a lot of the reviews on this forum before making my purchases.

Bravo to Blanchimont for this nice and detailed analysis.
Even if i agree with most of the points, this model remains a beautiful one.
It like it in my collection, that i never scan with magnifying glasses.
I also realized that my favorite models are not the finest one.
The heart has its reasons that the reason ignores !

thanks for sharing your thoughts about the AUTOart 993.  I have been on the fence....thought about replacing the 993 UT I have but as these seem to be flawed, their price point just isnt worth it to me.  I'm with you in that they could have done a much better version of the 993...at a minimum the C4S.  on top of that, none of the colors appeal to me.  Now if it had come out in Arena Red, it might be a whole different story!  At any rate, let's hope that QC gets better and AUTOart offers up some better versions of the 993.  Of the older Porsche body styles, I still believe it is one of their best designs ever.

Yup. Rudy is well known member in the Porsche community, wish I had a chance to meet him while I lived in the States. He actually helped me quite a bit on sorting out the different Porsche 'light blue' shades a while back. A little known geeky fact is that there's actually two different types of Riviera Blue: paint code 39E ('Riviera Blue') and the famous 3AG ('Riviera Blue Pearl Effect'). The difference is that the 3AG is a water based paint, but the two are almost indistinguishable by the naked eye. (There are several colors that have two codes but the only real color that actually looks different is Speed Yellow)

Rudy is a cool guy, especially when his day job is moving a lot of dirt around :nice:

Wow. That was a very well-written article.  And I like your sense of humor.  When I saw this model on Autoart's website, I instantly put it on the top of my wish-list. I figured once the Autoart Huracan in Verde Mantis comes out, I'd order the Huracan and 993 in Riviera Blue together to save on shipping. I think the 993 in Riviera Blue looks striking! But after reading your review, I'm giving second thoughts on the 993 now.  Though honestly, the only thing that actually really bothers me is the badge and the crooked "Carrera" lettering.  I can let the color and headlamp lens slide.

My Poschephile knowledge has just gone up haha, didn't know that about Riviera Blue. Porsche does some great blues, I'd have a hard time deciding between Riviera, Mexico and Voodoo on a new car...

I showed the same in some post on diecast arena on FB. That's truly f-up cause their sample had the wipers in correct the position but since Nurnberg toy fair 2015 it's shown with wipers on the wrong side. What's also strange is that those are completely new wipers because you can't just turn them to the other side, they would be upside down

nice review (did learn somethings) but i think you took it too far and wrote it in a whiny type of way.   (As in, too many personal opinions and thoughts)
