FIFTY YEARS OF ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM

About the Rolls Royce Phantom the brand website says,
“The signature Rolls-Royce, the essence of the marque. With its powerful stance, iconic proportions and state-of-the-art technology, Phantom is a timeless interpretation of the modern luxury motor car. The Spirit of Ecstasy leads the way – with a sense of purpose and presence.”

The most flagship offering from the British luxury brand has come a long way since 1925 when it was introduced to replace the iconic “Silver Ghost” and it became Rolls Royce’s most consistent offering for more than 90 years. Other famous models from the brand lasted only for a short while, maybe a couple of decades – but Rolls never stopped producing the “Phantom”s. Starting from the 1925 Phantom – I with the Catwalk fenders, till the all modern looking latest Phantom-VII launched at 2003, the one this has always been common - the mesmerizing beauty & elegance of this over-the-top luxury vehicle that leaves us speechless.

While many people & collectors has liking & love for various marques or vehicles, I have never felt any particular attention to any car to collect all its generations –  till I have encountered the first “Phantom” in person, it was the latest generation (not sure if it was an EWB version) that I have spotted just a couple of months back at my home-town Kolkata. And, oh my my, it felt so mesmerizing & beautiful that I could not take my eyes off her… and then the decision was made almost instantaneously to include at least the major generations of Rolls Royce Phantoms in my collection.

My latest addition is this Phantom-V by Paragon Models after the Kyosho Phantom-VII EWB that I have acquired about a couple of months back –

In my opinion the most major Phantom models by design philosophy and significant changes are – Phantom – I, III, V & VII (the latest generation). But, sadly the are only 2 of them have decent (or in fact any) rendition in 1:18 scale, the Phantom V & VII. Though Neo makes a good looking Phantom II, but resins being a strict No-no to me, I have decided not to add that one in my “All-opening” model collection as of now. Hopefully someone will make those beautiful opening die-cast metal models of my desired generations of Rolls Royce Phantom soon enough. For now just a few photos of my Phantom V & Phantom VII together – 2 cars with a “generation gap” of about 50 years.

More Photos and a review of the Paragon Phantom V (hopefully) will be posted later.

Excellent photos.

I am tempted to get a RR Phantom as well, still deciding the silver or white.
