Warning! Be careful of Tony K. (Exoto's Boss), one of the Exoto collector from Mainland China I came across today confirmed he's been cheated by Exoto for USD600! Tony K. did not send the parcel from day 1, then he ask my friends to closed the Paypal case and promised sincerely he would send back the model, of course he didn't, simply a con man!!! So take extreme cautious when you deal with this dishonest man, this is not the first time, and definitely not the last case someone being cheated by Tony K. of Exoto!!! Myself is also a victim who believed in his crap!!!

Long story short, my friend from Mainland China purchased a D-Type, but it never arrived. Emailed Tony K many times without any reply. Then he filed a Paypal Dispute, Tony immediately responded! Damn!!! Promising he will send it again IF HE CLOSED THE DISPUTE, my naive friend closed it and fell right into Tony's evil trap! Of course Tony DID NOT SEND IT and NEVER REPLIED. Since you can only open the Paypal Dispute once, that's how my friend lost all his money.

THIS IS CRIMINAL!!! and EVERYONE SHOULD NOT BUY FROM EXOTO ANY MORE! I am done with that evil man, will cut everything with him and regret having lunch with him in Hong Kong one years ago, it WAS A MISTAKE AND I DON'T WANT TO SEE TONY K OF EXOTO ANY MORE!

Wow that flat out sucks. Sorry to say, But those of us who have been here a while now know all to well about the dirty tricks that Exoto / Tony K will try and pull off.

Its a shame your friend closed his paypal case though, Did he keep all email conversations in regards to this?  Did TK promise any form of tracking info?

These are all things that may / may not actually help your friend.

I heard a lot of theses stories but here is mine:

I ordered a D-type beginning of January during the 70% discount sale. It did not ship immediately but I was told that it could take a few weeks so I decided to wait patiently until beginning of February when I shot an email to Exoto asking hey guys, what's your expected shipping date? I did not receive any answer but stayed kinda patient. One week later I checked my account just to see the order was being processed, cool! Few days later the package was shipped with UPS but found out it was already delivered to another person in another city. Crap! I called and he admitted the tracking number on my account was wrong and gave me the right one. He blamed it on the fact they were  moving. Received my D-Type a few day later and overall was very happy with the experience despite the lack of communication and the small glitch with the tracking number. Now it's up to you to judge. Their models are just mind blowing and during the yearly sale the prices are interesting.

Update, after months of struggling, my friend finally received the D-type, Tony said he has made a mistake in shipping the item to the wrong address.

Well that's nice.

I kinda avoided commenting until now but now I can also say that I ordered from Exoto many times, including a $2000 order, and I did have to wait a month before they shipped it, but I received it and everything went well.

Good to see that this was resolved.
Over the years I've ordered a number of models directly from Exoto including a number of D-Types.
All bar one of them have arrived as promised which never shipped but a full refund was granted within a few days
I've been lucky it seems as I've read many stories - but my advice is to use Paypal only, never ever pre-order, only order if it is stock and most of all keep on top of them by e-mail as required but do it politely and reasonably.

70% off? I was only aware of their 50% discount. What was the final price? $500-600? Glad everything sort out in the end.

Yes 70% off with free shipping. Final price was $598.5 :yahoo:
Haven't seen that kind of price level since.

True. Great catch. The cheapest I saw was in July @ 700$ shipped.

It was a great price (I nearly succumbed myself and it's still far above my ceiling price!) and I'm glad it turned up.

I've a few Exotos and they're the stars of my collection, but I wouldn't ever pay the prices they ask these days.

I've bought a couple direct from Exoto when on sale and they arrived without any problems, but you do read too many negative stories
for them all to be exceptions...
