I saw pics of the 2018/19 Aston Martin Vantage has some appeal but the full-race GTE version is gorgeous!

follows similar design principles to the car its replacing, especially the mad rear diffuser :drool5: but still looks completely different. Cant wait to see this thing in action!! (and a model made of it of course hehe)

I have never understood how the extended diffusers on those cars don't get stomped on by competitors during the usual close racing in that class. They would have to be made of cast iron to survive some of the shenanigans I've seen on TV!

Next to the GTE, the street version looks like its nebbishy, bookworm cousin with sweater-vest and horn-rim glasses who has never seen the inside of a gym :giggle:.

THIS I would buy in diecast with opening features, of course, but I question whether someone will produce that. Probably be another "composite" :mad2:...

I Agree. Although as I am quite cool on the new street Vantage design I think the race version has an fantastic design. Well done.

It's an interesting mix of the DB11, Vulcan and Toyota FT-1.

I like it! Especially the race car version! I did prefer the older classic Aston Martin front grille tho.

Think AUTOart might appreciate the potential UK sales for this car enough to make it a full-featured diecast instead of another,,,yech!..."composite"? One can only hope....

This past weekend the Aston Martin Racing team debuted the new Vantage in the GTE Pro class during the Spa 6-Hour WEC race. The two cars qualified in 8th and 11th places and finished down in 6th and 7th places, decent for a new car but presumably still under development:

Of course, after the race, Aston Martin joined BMW and Ferrari in asking for a reset of the dreaded Balance of Performance settings since all three manufacturers with new or evolution cars were at a clear performance disadvantage to Ford and Porsche. This is no surprise.

Oh, and AMR says they may bring a factory team back to IMSA GTLM class in 2019 - that would add to the best category in racing!

It's always a difficult balancing act.  GT classes are still primarily aimed at customer teams and gentleman drivers, and if BoP isn't used to equalise the performance then you just end up in a spending war - those GT1 cars from the second half of the 90s might have been spectacular, but it was completely unsustainable.  So whilst it would be nice if Ferrari/BMW/Aston were able to get their cars on the same pace as Porsche and Ford, I have some sympathy with their request for BoP to be re-assessed.

Of course, the big headache the organisers have is that the next race is Le Mans, and they're damned if they do, damned if they don't.  Leave the BoP as it is, and it could be a two-manufacturer fight for the most prestigious win of the year.  Or adjust it based on the limited data of one race, and risk handing one of the new cars a huge advantage.  Who knows whether those three manufacturers were simply hiding their pace at Spa?  I wouldn't mind betting that Toyota were doing exactly that in LMP1.

Spiky, I read a nice summary of exactly that question about the BOP adjustments a couple of days ago. The fact is, Le Mans rules over all and it is not beyond comprehension for a manufacturer to sandbag and sacrifice performance at a prior race in order to encourage the FIA to slide the advantage a bit more to its side just to be able to make a splash in France. The Corvettes have often run with one hand tied behind their collective backs in a couple of the recent 24-hours due to adjustments and the Ford GT is only now being produced in quantity and never will reach the numbers of its competitors in the class.

Overall it seems to work but it's a shame it has to be such a game of virtual chance....

Those are more pics than I was able to find online :nice: . Every shot I found that could be copied seemed to show the same view of the new Vantages leading each other from the front.

Thanks, Sergio, they look great :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:!

No problem Jersey.
What i can tell about this new car was that it sounded pretty silent.
The old vantage has the roar but this new car is heavily silenced almost f1 like.
I guess thats the future:(
