From my past experience with EMS from Japan, it only took less than a week but this time I have a package coming from China and I feel like waiting forever. Is this normal? No updates since 3/27/18...

Yep, it was Qingming festival. It started last Thursday, so they had four days off.

I won an eBay auction on March 28, and the model arrived yesterday.

Did you put the tracking number into USPS, as well?

What does it really means "the oroginal post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece"?? I called usps and the rep said the package is still in China. How trust worthy is that piece of info?

I'm not sure what all the code words mean.   For example, when I mail USPS, for the first day, it says something like received in system.  I'm a day from a sorting hub, so on the third day it will show received there, and so on.

Wish I could screen capture my last tracking from China, but it seems like once it leaves that country, it moves pretty quickly.

Yes, EMS is the express service from China Post. I think it's means the package is waiting for flights to the United States.

On usps.com, I could not find much info but after searching on google to read about others' experiences with EMS, I found a link that gave me a little bit more info about my tracking, which states that the package has left Beijin
and is on its way to the New York JFK Airport. But how come it is taking so long? 2 weeks on the flight??? Thats questionable. I also heard that the NY airport is a mess and I also have experienced a long hold of my other packages sitting at the airport not being scanned for a long time so my guess is it probably is already there and since it is a mess over there it is most likely not being scanned as expected...hopefully I will see some updates this week.
Usps is a mess...I was on a 40 minute hold only to hear the rep not able to find out what is going on and she transferred me to their "International department" only to be hung up shortly after...

Now this got me worried...
Mine said on its way to the NY airport since 3/27/18....this is awefully long :(
I guess nothing I can really do except playing the waiting game.

Any reason for CBP to be suspicious about the package?

Did you buy from a well known, reputable seller?  He might have declared the package as a “sample” with low value which is why CBP is holding the package.  If you paid with paypal / cc, just know you’re covered for nondelivery so id try to put it in the back of my mind and maybe go window shopping on CK / modelissimo site to distract me lol Id give it a few more days and checkback to see any tracking movement.

New York holds Items in Customs a LONG time.. Then They often change your tracking number within USPS..and don't notify you. That said, local postal services in Fort Worth lost a package that I sent to my brother and then found it... total time was 2 months :gaah: With most of that being held in Customs in New York.

Ironically, when I stayed in Fort Worth, my packages came in less than a week from China and sent through California, not New York. :icon_scratch:

It seems that the shipping guardian is not with me this time...

Besides this package from China, I have another package coming from ck models/Germany. I got a note from my local post office saying that they tried to deliver a package but no one home. They did not leave any tracking number on the note so i don't know which package between the two-the China or Germany one. They did not even scan as I don't see any updates about a delivery attempt on usps.com.

When I called them, their supervisor could not locate the package. I gave him my number and he said will call me back on the status.

Someone along the line did not do their job, not scanning so the tracking is pointless...sigh...

From past experience with CK, if they shipped via DHL, the tracking no will change once the pkg arrives to the US.  DHL website should inform you of the new tracking no by entering the old DHL track # that you got from CK.

https://www.dhl.de/e...ivatkunden.html

GL with your incoming arrivals! Im sure everything will turn out ok in the end.  As they say, patience is a virtue!  (Just fyi, due to the crappy conversion of $$$ vs Euro, ive been buying from American Excellence with their 10% discount and their prices are cheaper than buying from CK since shipping is free for +150 purchases.  An added bonus is that they’re located in US, so no CBP troubles)

I called my local post office today and they told me there was no tracking number on the package sitting at their office. So i am not sure if all the delay with my two packages(ck model and the one from China) has to do with why there are no further updates showing online.
I also called dhl and they told me their tracking number is the same as the one on usps.I know I was able to obtain a different tracking to track on usps.com with my other packages before. I also tried to search on dhl.de and there is no usps tracking number available...
I don't know wth is going on as eveything seems to be odd this time with both packages...

Anyone here from New York? Do you know if there is a bad weather causing any mail service delay? I have an international package heading to the JFK airport per tracking.

New Yorker chiming in. Two weeks or more for an international package, especially from China, has been the usual for me. If a package comes earlier, I'm surprised. I've had packages waiting in customs for a week.

As for tracking not being updated: Ebay is slow to update. Sometimes you'll hear absolutely nothing even from USPS for a while. And then suddenly, you'll get blasted with a bunch of tracking info. My package from Hong Kong stayed on "Preparing Shipment" for a week or two then suddenly, I got all the tracking info, plus a missed package notice in one day.

I can't confirm that the Post Offices stopped because of the weather today, but this morning the weather was VERY nasty. I've been hit with the bad weather delay earlier this year. I just go down to my local post office on the next business day.

With international packages, especially stuff that's near and over $100 USD, if you're not home, the postman usually won't leave the package. That happened for me with a model from Japan (well over $100) and another from Hong Kong (around $70).

I had my tracking number and went down to my local post office. They had me sign to pick the package up.

Hope some of this helps.

Thank you for the news! Greatly appreciate it! Now I feel more relieved knowing the cause of the delay. My package from China to California has been sitting at "The Origin post is preparing to dispatch this shipment" since March 27...hopefully not too long.
