The model I am featuring here is an updated version of the Porsche 356 Number 1 by Autoart. It was originally released in 2009 including an exclusive Porsche Museum Edition.

It is getting updated in 2018, the year of the 70th anniversary of Porche and has been available for almost to 2 months in North America. The updated version is presented in the latest blue Autoart box. Not sure if a Museum Edition will follow this time.

From the pictures of the original release I found on the internet the updates consists in:

- Completely new dashboard with:
   - Only one instrument on the driver side (had 2 before),
   - Added clock on the passenger side,
   - Red padding matching the seats
- Updated rear view mirror
- Added PE "A" for Austria
- Updated wheels

Autoart can justify the updated release based on the fact the Porsche Museum has built a new version of the 356 Number 1 in order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the marque.
Apparently it is more accurate than the existing that was heavily modified throughout its life. However they decided the new version would not be functional. See link below with more details:
https://www.hemmings...-existing-no-1/

Sadly the new Autoart wheels finish don't reflect correctly the new version on display at the Museum. They should have been done with a more realistic polished aluminum finish.
They chose to keep the silver paint rather than the blueish satin grey of the new version. Finally the rear trunk from the Autoart remains in 2 parts whereas on the original car it was only one piece.
So in the end this model is not a completely original Porsche 356/1 more a mix of different versions

Now for the pictures of the model:

Looks great, Arnage, thanks for sharing!! Superb photography!
I'm glad AUTOart stayed with the metallic silver paint - have to say I like it better than Porsche's new grew at Zuffenhausen...

These are new, Craig. I have to say I prefer the previous version, a bit strange they didnt do the paint job too when doing this, but its still a cool and special little car.

I saw this posted on Facebook the other day - I didn't realise it has been out for 2 months already!
Looks pretty nice, although not my kind of model to be honest.

My recent addition this CMC Ferrari D50 (Long nose) #1 Juan Manuel Fangio, Winner of the German Grand Prix in 1956.

Certainly not the best CMC but a really worthy addition to my Ferrari collection especially since it was driven to victory by Fangio.
The long nose was in fact an addition to the standard D50 car so CMC should have done it that way or at least make the effort of adding screws as can be seen on historic pictures.
They actually asked collectors' opinion in the development phase but in the end did not listen to our comments. Oh well...

Fangio with his colours made beautiful cars even more impresive.
Fast cars present such a perfect marriage of form and function that they should be considered as genuine works of art (David Coulthard). My 1:18 fast cars: https://www.diecastx...upersportscars/

Lovely start you're off to Arnage! Looking forward to more and as for the name of the thread, you can change it using the full edit editor (do not work with chrome)

Thanks so much. Question: does the full editor works with Safari and what function do I have to use to change the name of the thread?

For me the full editor works pretty fine with Safari.
To change the name of the thread: Just edit your starting post with the full editor - there will be a field where can edit the name of the thread...

BTW: Brilliant pics - thanks for sharing!!!

Nice addition. The paint looks great, and can't wait to see mine. Should be here in a couple of weeks. The Ferrari is also insane, great model.
