I need your expert advice, guys.....I have a 1:18 AUTOart McLaren F1 in black that has sadly slowly started developing paint rash. For me, the F1 is one of the highlights of my collection and I want to do something amazing with it - make it a true unicorn model.

I'll be sending it off to Modelllichtsysteme to have a full lighting system installed and while its there I may as well have it repainted to get rid of the rash in a unique colour that no manufacturer has offered before. So my ask to you guys is, what colour should I choose? :dunno:

I myself would always like an F1 in a liquid blue or dark liquid purple :drool5:

I was going to say Rowan Atkinson's colour.  But someone beat me to it.

I did think about this colour, but I wonder if it's too 'boring' for want of a better word?

Have you got any example pics? I think I would prefer a McLaren colour so its as realistic a replica as possible

Wow, what an interesting new topic! Not only are you going to do the Modelllichtsysteme (who remembers the old youtube videos from 10 years ago showcasing each model with the classic background music?) but a complete repaint of one of the rarest modern autoarts out there. I'm thinking that if you're gonna go through all of that effort, you definitely have to go bold while also being realistic to the 1:1 cars. I personally think that a replica of Mr. Bean's #061 would look very elegant which would be more of a crowd pleaser since it's one of more famous customer F1's. However, if you want to go seriously bold, a replica of #075 (Volcano Orange), #048 (brilliant metallic blue), or #060 (dandelion yellow) would be totally insane to see. You also may have to repaint the interior depending on which chassis # you choose.

Looking forward to seeing updates on this!

This project is certainly going to be an interesting one ... you had me intrigued about the lighting system so I had to look the guy up and wow .. super impressive. I saw LED kits ages ago but never really considered it for a project but I may have to think about it for something really special down the line.
If I read what your idea is, you want something unique thats going to really stand out colour wise - something that you can definitely tell has been done custom just for you. This is exactly my thinking whenever I did a custom project. Why go through all the effort and costs to end up with something plain jane right?
Are you strictly going to stay with a known colour for an existing F1? Typically I start here for inspiration if there is an actual car I really like to replicate or use as a starting point.
However if there isn't something that particularly catches my eye, then I have to be creative.
Are you considering an interior repaint as well? What about the wheels?

Blue would be my choice. It has a blue interior, too. https://exclusivecar...820180302224053

To keep things as realistic as possible, I'd rather go for a real F1 spec.
Interior repaint is definitely on the cards if required, but I'd prefer not to touch the wheels otherwise costs could really spiral out of control lol

Wow. Interesting topic. To me though, I would just repaint it to jet black and get rid of paint rash.
