Paint rash, what's that? Yeah, like it never existed, some models never seems to have a problem with it. If I look back through the 35 plus years of me collecting, I notice that I NEVER have spotted one hint of paint rash on my 90s Bburagos made in Italy, also not on my early Maistos, Revell Germany, not even on my earliest AUTOart or Gate Models. So what gives? Why are mostly higher end models (mainly Kyoshos, Minichamps and some older AAs) starting to show rash trash on the surfacing? With Paint rash, it can be sanded and saved, but with the most dreaded Zinc Pest, you might as well throw what's left of your model in the trash.

So, I was fortunate enough to have a friend in Brussels selling a new MINT in box dark red metallic Sagaris, like the one that I had which was "lost" during international transport. Also, I found another MINT in box Tuscan S in yellow to match my blue one stored away. Anyway, I thought that it would be fun to put these two mint relics together in a shoot a couple of weekends ago.

I am just so thrilled that I can post early 2000s era models free of rash of pest, bucking the excuse of older models all starting to develop rash..but, instead a lot of premium companies were obviously using inferior or contaminated scrap metal to rip us collectors off while pocketing the profits. So, with all of that disaster, thus causing the rise of plastic and resins in the last 5 years or so to be on the safe side.

Since most of us here already have or know of these two models, no introductions or details needed, unless requested below.

Here's to some diecast oldies that deserve more time in the spotlight for being rash and pest free MINT survivors!

Same. I have a purple Tuscan S and I love it. It's soo heavy for such a small model. And I also couldn't get a Sagaris, now I am sad about it :bawling:

Awesome Dave, love the Sagaris, what a car! I have the lighter red version, I think mine does have a bit of rash in places though. Hoping we get a high end opening version someday.

Amazing looking cars. Nothing beats TVRs in terms of originality. I have them both but Tuscan in orange and Sagaris in green (by LS Collectibles). I painted in black the holes of the front grille of Tuscan ...looks way better.

Congrats Dave to these 2 wonderful diecast oldies - especially the Sagaris in this color is pue eye-candy!!! :occasion14:
I also have a real oldie on it's way crossing the Atlantic ocean: The CadZZilla by Hot Wheels (a release from 1996) - hoping that the paint quality still is ok...

Great looking model that Sagaris! I'm still missing that one, they don't show up much these days, at least not in the condition and price I'd be ok with.

I have the Same Tuscan S in yellow, but sadly mine is covered in paint rash. Still a very good and solid model though.

.Thanks!
Yeah, when I look back at what these costed when news, I should have gotten more colors..but, back then, I usually just bought one or two of the same models.
Yeah, I lucked out on the Sagaris, because mine was obviously stolen with my Biantes and some other rare models. Whoever was working within the shipping company or Customs had good tastes on my International move.
I just figured out that my Sagaris was missing like a year after my move :gaah: So, I didn't clam it on the lost.
Glad that you liked the posting!! :occasion14:

Wow, I would love to see your purple Tuscan.
You're right! These older models used way more material. It's nice to have that weight in hand.
Keep a look out online, the Sagaris turns up from time to time. :occasion14:

Thanks Base!!! :danke:  Yes, back when these cars were new, the Sagaris was my favorite of all the TVRs. It was just unique! The others were nice, but the Sagaris was AMAZING creatively design wise. :eusa_clap:
Sorry to hear that yours started developing paint rash.
Yeah, I was literally thinking that when I posted the pictures with the bonnet/hood shutters.. "What if someone made a fully opening detailed one?" :occasion14:
