Hello everyone,

I hope all of you and your families are healthy.

I don't even know where to start. Owning our own business usually my wife and I are working 7 days a week, getting up around 6 in the morning and finishing up between 10 or 11 late evening, ...well weekends are a little bit better but not much. Having three kids does not help to save time. :) Therefore, I have very little to no time or energy to spend on any hobby and I have quite a few of them, including several collections. The oldest one, though, is collecting 1:18 scale cars. It started when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I got my first model. It was a Ferrari F40 from Tonka, yeah not the best model, but I preferred the opening headlights over the opening trunk from Bburago. Since then the collection has grown by quite a bit.

Due to the situation worldwide we have been sitting at home most of the time, still working from morning till late evening, but it has also allowed us to catch up on a lot of things we have been putting off. Well, it even looks like I may have some free time for myself coming up soon. Most of my models sit in their original boxes in a closet with just a few placed in display boxes. Something I have been wanting to do for a while now is to create a repair shop diorama to display 3 cars at a time with a rotation of exchanging the vehicles every month or two. Since, I have very limited free time I do not want to make basic mistakes that probably most people make when they start, or do certain things in such ways which may waste time.

I found this forum which looks very promising in finding information and guides on how to start and create such a diorama. Looking forward to posting with you all.

Stay healthy and all the best. :)
Adrian

Thank you for the welcome everyone. :) Any beginner's tips on where to look on the forum first, or keywords to use for getting DIY ideas for a repair shop diorama?

The forum search isn't working properly, unfortunately.

You can try searching with Google with the following syntax and see what comes up: site:diecastxchange.com diorama

There are two members in here that often come up with great diorama ideas and how-tos: BRN and lateapex.

Here are some of their threads to get you started:

https://www.diecastx...-backgrounddio/

https://www.diecastx...street-diorama/

https://www.diecastx...tdoor-pictures/

https://www.diecastx...ground-parking/

https://www.diecastx...net-and-diorma/

https://www.diecastx...ma-and-cabinet/

For the garage diorama idea, take a look at sparky 117's thread:

https://www.diecastx...rama-118-scale/

You can also keep an eye on the Displays and Cabinets thread, members post some interesting stuff in there sometimes:

Have fun! :occasion14:
