So I bought this car as a birthday present to myself back in early April, and after being stuck in shipment for 3 months from Australia, this beautiful 1:18 Biante Holden Commodore SSV Redline finally arrived at my door step! I fully understand the havoc created by the Covid-19 situation and I am truly appreciative of the postal workers everywhere in the world for doing their job, so no complaint from myself despite the very long transit time.

I have been wanting to get this VF-generation Commodore for a while and finally pulled the trigger when I saw a good deal on it. And yes, thanks to my buddy Dave ‘DND-Land’ review of the red Commodore SSV, I had to get this one! :giggle:

Initially I ordered the Orange version (which Holden named “Light my Fire”). But at the last minute I changed my mind and decided to go with the black car. I just love the more sinister look of the all-black Commodore (which interestingly they left the chrome trims, should be all blacked out like the orange or green versions).

This 1:18 Biante has that good quality feel of an old AutoArt (as it should be….). The proportion is excellent even though the quality of the paint job can be slightly improved. The engine and interior details are pretty good although some parts of the interior are too glossy. I love that Biante chose to do the 6-speed manual version. Generally it’s just refreshing to get a full-opening diecast nowadays! A lot of the pictures I saw online made it look like the rear wheels offset are way too much inward. But on my copy they look OK. So I guess it may depend on the angle of the picture, and there may be some variation from car-to-car.

I want to get this 1:18 as this is the last generation of Rear Wheel Drive Commodore and the fact that no one is making the North American Chevy SS version (which I love!). So here is hoping that someone will make the LHD Chevy SS version in the near future.

If you are considering getting this 1:18 Commodore VF, I can highly recommend it! :occasion14: Especially if you're a big fan of the GM Aussie muscle cars!

Here are some indoor pictures of the car:

First of all CONGRATS on this sinister looking SSV Redline Stefanus!!! :yahoo:  Oooh ohhh, did I do this? ..LOL! Glad to be a bad influence at all model occasions :giggle: ..but, in this case, I think that it was an AMAZING and purposeful purchase :eusa_clap:
Next, what a pity to all that has happened to Holden. It was a company which true petrol heads looked forward to hear from every once in a while products wise. What is nice is, that you pared your VF SSV with the older generation VX. :eusa_clap:
Well, at least we can still get our Holdens in high detail 1/18th scale as well as in multiple colors to boot :eusa_clap:  Glad that you finally got this model buddy! Because to not be in your collection is a model car petrol head's travesty! Congrats and Cheers to you on this 4-Door hot rod! :occasion14:

Great review and photos. Shows off the model nicely. I too want one, but  shipping right now from overseas has me concerned. Once things start moving a bit more I will add one.

The white with black wheels and red stripes/details looks great to me. Might get that one.

THANKS Dave! :occasion14:
Yep... this addition is because of you buddy :giggle:
But I am happy to have this in my collection. One day I will be looking at it and say "now THAT is a HOLDEN!".
I don't think the current commodore (based on NA Buick Regal) is a bad car, but it should not be a Commodore. Imagine if BMW makes the 5-series FWD.
Let's hope AUTOart picks up this old mold, creating the tooling for LHD version, and makes the Chevy SS!!!

Yes, the overseas shipping can be dicey. As I mentioned this one took 3 months to get from Aussie to Michigan.
The white 'Motorsport' edition is very nice looking! And I was debating to get that either but in the end getting this Black one without the Motorsport package due to its subtleness.

:nice: Nice Jakarta plate there.

I have the red "Last Car" from the commemorative twin pack. Mine had too many defects as Biante had so much issues during production and rushing them to release.
Glad that yours look as good as this model can be. Or at least no misaligned panels and broken off taillamps.

I am surprised that Biante went all out with the VF Series (maybe to recoup as much from the cast as possible... ). There are so many colors, trims and engines to choose from.

Thanks! Glad you noticed the plate :)
I had to use the ‘Jakarta’ plate since I need the “SSV” suffix.

Oh that’s too bad you had so many problems with the red Last Car! I really love that version but they are so expensive if one can be found!

The panel alignments on these ones are good actually and not really a glaring QC issue I can find.

Thanks Stefanus! Glad that we have similar tastes! :occasion14:
Yeah, the Regal/Open Holden doesn't cut it for "Hot OZZY Cars" However, I will take one for my everyday cars tho..LOL :giggle:
Ha, AUTOart would pass or do it in plastic, as I am sure that Holden won't be paying them for promos these days.
Glad that you are enjoying it Stefanus! :occasion14:

Yes - It really is sad that the Holden brand will cease to exist in 2021....
Hope GM has some good replacement for the Commodore in the pipeline, maybe branded as Chevy....
