Hey,

Those of you that have the DE of Norevís R129... how well does your hardtop fit? Once Iíve located the pins at the rear (not easy because the pins are too short), I then get quite a bad fit/large gap where the front of the roof meets the head of the windscreen rail. If I try to adjust that bit, the rear of the hood raises from the deck and... slides off.

The soft top fits much better. Just wondered if youíve got the same fit problem?

Iím not that worried about it tbh, just curious.

I don't have a DE one yet so I can't say on my own model. I can say though that it looks so bad!!

F**k you Photobucket.

Lol, I know. Strange that Norev goofed up on this. They’re usually pretty good. Odd that the soft top doesn’t have this problem. Oh well :-)

Is it plastic?
If so, it may be possible to reshape it with a bit of persuasion.

I think itís a clear part thatís been masked up and painted. So sort of plastic. The challenge is establishing the cause of the bad fit, which may not be the point where the problem is most evident - on the windscreen frame.

I think the problem is that shape below the hard topís side windows doesnít correctly follow the form of the body itís meant to rest accurately on. And if anybody is going to bodge up that repair, itíll be me :-)

Then try sending it back to Norev with photos showing how it doesn't fit.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.....

You’re right, pal. But I don’t think mine is unique. When looking at pics online before I ordered it, I could see the fit was off, but I thought maybe the roof hadn’t been put on properly. But when mine arrived, it was clear this could actually be a problem with all of them...

Then tell them they are risking their reputation supplying product with faulty parts.
And that Mercedes Benz will not be happy to give their official support in such circumstances.
If someone points it out to them......

Thats not good if this turns out to be poor fit because we are effectively paying EUR30 more for the dealer version to get both optional soft/hard top if there is a universal fitting issue then best to settle for the cheaper hobby edition me think. I had no issues with their ragged top Pagoda Merc and the R109 so that comes as a bit of surprise if they actually mucked this up. I have a Sunstar Platinum Fiat 124 with ill fitting soft top and that really does makes the car looks goofy.

Just saw these pics of a DE Bornite one on ebay,

Firstly, soft top closed.

And with the hard top on. Sadly there are no pictures from the front, but it looks to me that on the driver side it doesn't fit properly.

It seems that although the hard top on that one is lined up better at the front, the rear of it is lifted? Looks to me like Norev got the angle it sits on the body wrong.

I think if you want the hard top on the model, you are going to have to use CA glue.
Glue the front first with non fogging, and when fully cured, glue the rear.

On the fourth pic, the roof fit is terrible at the front and terrible at the rear, too. Quite an achievement :-)

If you look at the pics of the silver one on CK Model cars, you’ll see the front fit problem there, too.

Maybe the only DIY solution is to cut the pins and glue them a few mm from the original locations?
Feel free to have a look of my collection on DX.

The pins are only part of the problem, though.

The main cause of the bad fit is that the side of the hard top doesnít follow the shape of the body it rests on.
