I wanted to add another colour to my white W123; while I love the classic white/black contrast, Iím rather taken by the other shades available and their very 70s interiors, too.

Question was, which one to get. I love KiteFIghterís Cyprus Green W123. So I decided on that. Then I saw Tanayastís English Red one, and wanted that instead. Every time I convinced myself I wanted it in red, I fell again for green. But Red spoke to me again. Then
Green. And so it went on...

So in a rare moment of indulgence, I ordered both.

Problem solved? Not sure. Thing is, the grey one is due soon, and I just know Iíll want that one, too. And to make things even worse, the Station Wagon will probably come in a range of colours as well. At this rate, Iím going to end up with more 123s than Mercedes produced, which is quite a concern given that it made 2.7 million of them! :-)

Some notes. They all have different number plates. Even though the green and red have - at first glance - the same plates, theyíre different.

A part of the flaps on the boxes of the DEs are colour coded to the colour of the car inside. This is true of the DE version of Norevís R129, too. Suspect thatís to help the person boxing them at the factory than to be of any meaningful benefit to us.

The red W123 has an extra painted component on the engine thatís not been painted on the others. Would be interested to hear if yours are the same.

All three have boots that are really stiff to open.

Guess Iíll be getting the S123 next. Unless they offer Diamond Blue or Pearl Blue, I may go for signal red and/or metallic grey. Weíll see :-)

Haha Scud you are such a sucker for W123 but in a good way. :hope: They are absolutely lovely and truly one of the best models Mercedes has ever built. I love your trio and very good choice on the colours. I would snap them up in a heart beat too if my local Benz dealer has them and are not stupidly priced.

I suppose you may wind up with a shelf full of W123 both saloon and wagon in all sort of colours soon LOL. I think diamond blue will look ace on the S123.

Actually, this 'advice' was aimed at Scuddy for his 123 issue.
But I suppose it would apply to most of us!

Lol, I hear you guys, I hear you! :-)

The metallic green looks extremely classy. It suits the car’s elegance and contrasts so nicely with the chrome. English Red is a solid and it is very 1970s, so also works very well with the shape.

But these have to be last, now... well, of the saloon anyway :-)

Don't forget to click your ruby slippers together while reciting that.  :giggle:

That dome shaped part you circled looks like an oil filter and they're mostly black but can be in other colours depending on the brand.

Hey mate, it’s the part to the left of the oil filter that intrigues me; it’s silver on the red car, but black/unpainted on the white and green cars :-)

I looked at some engine bays and it might be a vacuum pump. The engine bay is often weird on model cars with things either in the wrong place or absent altogether. That's why I appreciated the Schuco Pagoda engine bay cause you could tell what was what

That’s a great bay :-) very nicely done. The one on the Norev W123 is not that interesting but in fairness neither is that of the 1:1, which could be why Norev was a bit half arsed in its execution here. They saved all their effort for the interior and exterior :-)

Love the color collection of your W123s!! :drool5:
In reality you cannot go wrong with any of them. But I am curious to see how the grey will look like.

Blue and white in a set.
More expensive than a pair back when they were more easily available.
Appears to be 3 sets only for sale.

Hmm, interesting. Can they not shift them or something?
