Hi everyone,

My Solido Skyline R34 arrived today and I have a question related to this model.

The side mirrors came separate. I guess I have to glue them up myself. What sort of glue would you use? I have never done anything similar and would not want to mess it up.

Also, does anyone know what this black tool is for?

The black tool is a door opener / hood and trunk opener tool. With keeping handy as you can use it on all models.

For the door mirrors, first I'd push them in and see if they stay fixed in the holes on the door. If they do, great. If not, then something like Revell Contacta Clear. You only need a small amount.

F**k you Photobucket.

The black tool is to help in opening the doors of the model.
As for the mirrors, if you intend to keep it on display, I suggest using the smallest amount of superglue on the tip of a toothpick, applying it around the stud on the backside of  the mirror and pressing it into the door. You can adjust the alignment as it would take a few seconds for the glue to hard dry. Just make a dry run on the door before you use the glue to see if it needs any glue at all.

I prefer common all-purpose glue for something like this (a non structural part that is very light, no extra strength needed). It's a lot more forgiving than superglue.

I'll use this (very widely available where I live):

PS: Beware with superglue as it might leave haze on the door window. Make sure you use it on a well ventilated area. I usually use a small usb fan for several minutes and point it like so that any probable fume will get blown away from the model.

Have you tried putting the mirrors on and seeing if they hold? I would assume they should slot in and hold without glue due to their design, but I've never had a Solido so not entirely sure.

I had a go without glue, they held nicely but as soon as I moved the model they fell out of place. I'm happy to tell that with a tiny bit of super glue, they are now in place. Interestingly I have the new Porsche 911 3.8 RS from Solido and that one came with the mirrors fixed.. Not too sure why they are separate for this model.

Some times you have to fit the door mirrors yourself on some of their models :dunno:

How is the model? If I recall it's not really expensive, worth buying?
