Hi everyone

I come across this great forum, looking at all the passionate collectors like myself 🤩, seen some amazing model pics too 👍

Since I was 4 I have always been into cars. Starting with a large collection of matchbox cars as I got older I got into 1:18 models until this day.

Having some family in Italy I visited once a year growing up. I come across a model shop over there, every year buying 1 special model from it. I signed the visitor register every time, think my first was when I was ten and last being a couple years ago (sadly shop closed down last year 😢). Soon as I could afford too I bought my first cmc model from that shop and quickly then changed my collection to a smaller, more specialised one.

I sold off my large early day buragos, hot wheels and some auto arts, focusing on one car manufacturer ‘Ferrari’ and model manufactures BBR, CmC, Amalgam, Exoto and recently Davis & Giovanni 😎

Always been fascinated with Ferrari, the legend and the story 😎🤩

Anyways that’s my welcome message and I look forward to being part of this great forum 😊

Welcome to DX, Adam! :welcome:
From Germany.

Sounds like you have a great collection and Ferrari is a fascinanting collection topic for sure!
Do you take pictures of your models?

BTW:
My first 1/18 model was a Bburago F40 - bought in Italy too. :yahoo:
(And I still have it although I sold many cheaper models meanwhile...)

Hello Adam. Welcome from Essex!

You and I have the same collection focus, and the same history.
I have Italian roots and was actually born on the 18th February, the same day as Enzo himself (Though there are many many years between us!)
I visit Italy often and always pass by Maranello and visit the diecast stores within the town. Finding a bargain is challenging but on my last visit I did find an AUTOart Aventador Anniversario in white for £130!

My first model car was Bburago Ferrari Testarossa bought from an Italian street vendor in Naples! (I have fond memories of my Dad bartering with them over the prices before finally settling on one!)
My collection has always been Italian baised, recently AUTOart Lamborghini heavy. But I have sold off all my AUTOarts and am focusing on high end Ferraris by CMC, BBR & Exoto, with resin models being pushed out as more diecast high end enter the collection.

My Dad just passed away and left me some money which was used to get five CMC 250 GTOs, the best move I've ever made in collecting as it was just before they all shot up! Thanks Dad!

I'm intrigued by the shop you used to visit! Where was it?

Hi Guiddy

Great to see another Ferrari collector! Been to Maranello once and will never forget it, was a fantastic experience! The model shops there were great but yes inflated some what to no surprise...

The shop I used to visit was in Rome, ran by a family we got to know. It’s was called - Simoncini Giocattoli e Modellismo. They used to source and hold models I was hunting for, so sad it’s gone.

eBay is great and all but I do miss a good model shop!

I wished I bought the cmc lemans France 250 gto when it came out, couldn’t afford it at the time and it is my favourite model. I did however a few years back manage to get a midnight blue cmc 250 gto 1 of 100, which is my pride and joy of the collection.

Will share pics of some of my collection soon and would like to see more of your collection

Amazing to see such quality photography on some of the models ... some are pure artwork

That tool set is amazing, really makes the difference gives more life to the models

At heart I’m the same ... die cast Ferrari high end all the way but I do have some resin just because I couldn’t resist!

Oh well done on getting the Amelia Island GTO! That ship has sailed for most of us and having lost out to the #19 GTO LeMans entrant on ebay last night when I was outbid at £1800 I feel that boat might have sailed too!
I did have one but sold it when I moved house and changed the collection focus. I though I did well selling it for double what I bought it for! Little did I know!
But without selling it and pining for another I don't think I would have bought the five I have now!

Yes we would love to see your collection. I did list mine so will write something to bring it back up in the 1:18 Collectors section.

Welcome to DX, Adam! From Connecticut, USA, here. My collection is all racers and I have a few Ferraris among them. I do my best to research and write histories of each of my cars to give some insight into how it came to be.

I hope you'll visit my collection and see if any of my babies pique your interest!
I just want someone whose baggage goes with mine [from "Rent"]...
