I am pretty close to buying a 1:18 Amalgam model and wanted to ask opinions from people who have purchased one before.

I am aware that their 1:18 models are not everyone's cup of tea (resin, lacking opening parts) but wondered if anyone here has bought one and do they look as good in the flesh as they do on their website? They look sensational on the Amalgam site but well, it's their website so they should look great, especially given how much they cost.

So has anyone purchased one in 1:18? Happy to recommend?

In my opinion amalgam have the same quality than a resin sealed BBR for the double of the price

They're not for me, they just seem far too expensive for what they are (and I have a ton of high end resin models) I was completely miffed the other week when I found out that what I thought was a history book on the car was not that, it was a note pad.

F**k you Photobucket.

I have the AB Model Ferrari F40 which is in essence the Amalgam F40 unbranded. It is a good model and considering I paid less than the equivalent BBR it wasn’t a bad deal. But honestly for an Amalgam 1:18 I wouldn’t pay more than the price of a BBR or a MR collection, it is not worth it.

I recently purchased the 1:18 Amalgam Enzo. I love it, and looks amazing in person.

Let me know if you have any specific questions!

I have the Amalgam Ferrari 250LM only because it is the best rendition of the subject (my favourite car) available, with the exception of the yet to be released Exoto XS version.

The packaging is fantastic, though I do not believe it is not worth the asking price. I got mine at a reasonable discount but still feel that it is a little overpriced. Amalgam's accuracy in 1/18 scale can be a bit hit and miss. Some of the models have great shelf pressence but others just look odd in the photos that I have seen.

In particular the Amalgam Lamborghini Miura is not their best work

Thanks for the responses.

Chin Up, I can't decide between the Ferrai 250 and the Porsche 917. Did you buy from Amalgam directly?

I've noticed these guys do some good prices sometimes, they were down to £525 the other day. https://legendary-mo...gam-collection/

The picture of the steering wheel of the Jaguar XK SS always cracks me up. It looks so bad! Surely they'd have checked the QC before photographing it!

The Amalgam 1/18 aren't for you guys lol. When Amalgam bring their giant 1/8 models to Ferrari Corse Clienti events and things like that, I bet they hear a lot of "wow I love your models but they're too big! You make any smaller ones?" They're made for the rich dude asking that question lol. Absolutely zero thought is given to diecast collectors like us. It's just a market they perceive to be there.

I bought it directly from Amalgam. Great customer service. I even requested to have photos of my model taken at their workshop in Amalgam UK before they shipped it out to me.
